Marvel revealed the future of several Spider-Man comics Sunday afternoon at New York Comic Con (NYCC) during a panel moderated by Vice President and Executive Editor Nick Lowe, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, and writers Ale Ewing and Joe Kelly. The Spidey squad revealed upcoming series and previously unseen art.
Much of the panel was about The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man, preceded by a trailer. The series is part of The Amazing Spider-Man series written by Kelly.

While adults were quietly intrigued, the children participating in NYCC’s family day were noticeably less enthused. Spider-Man will exit his friendly neighborhood to enter the afterlife. “None of the Scions are particularly nice,” Kelly said, “Death is in the cards.” He added, “Anybody close to Spidey, as we know, is in danger all the time.”
While issues are still unwritten, Lowe is familiar with the high stakes. “No. 65 is the most intense I’ve ever read. It made me cry.” Planned for 10 issues, the series will expand far beyond with many more, though the total number of issues was not disclosed.
The panelists were excited to share the updated Astonishing Spider-Man. Issues No. 1 and No. 2 are available online now. Both were written by comedian Scott Aukerman. Issue No. 3 will hit shelves later this month.
Spider-Boy will also return in a new form. Spider-Boy “is the perfect Pixar movie,” said Lowe. “It’s for kids and adults.” And, a revived Spider-Girl debuts this week.
There were also reveals for Venom War. Lowe teased, “This is one of the most intense Venom events ever.”
“You’re about to see how crazy we’re getting about this,” said Ewing. Character Eddie Brock will land at a wrestling show at Madison Square Garden. “It’s the most insane match you’ve ever seen,” he said.
All-New Venom No. 1 will come out in December. Venom is outfitted in a black and gold suit. “You think you get to the end, but it gets weirder,” said Ewing. “You’re about to hate me,” he said, regarding the twists and turns in this new series. He declined to name who would be in the Venom suit but suggested that Luke Cage, Madame Masque, Rick Jones, and Robbie Robertson were all candidates.

White announced a new Carnage series. “This is a big spoiler for Venom War,” he said. Eddie Brock will move into the role of Carnage. The series is written by Charles Soule. “This is a new situation for both these characters,” Soule said. “This is exciting because I haven’t written in five years,” he said, mentioning that he’s been busy with Star Wars.
The new series debuts in February 2025. “He brings Carnage on board and does it because he’s making a sacrifice,” Ewing said, noting that Brock wants to save others from Carnage’s responsibility. He takes a Dexter turn, hunting serial killers in the Marvel universe. Norman Osborne, Silver Surfer, and Punisher were among Soule’s “theoretical” examples.
May 2025 will see Spider-verse vs Venomverse. “It’s gonna be super cool,” White said, “but I can’t tell you why.” Regarding Venom, Jordan said, “I love a flawed hero.”
