If you’ve ever wanted to play as a schizophrenic in an arena shooter you finally have your chance with Moon Knight being the latest reveal for Marvel Comics’ Marvel Rivals. Dubbed the Knight of Khonshu and being a Duelist type character that excels at hunting down single characters and 1v1’ing them, it’s almost certain that fans of the Moon Knight Disney+ show are excited to see their guy featured yet again on a big stage.
He was given a second chance at life, becoming the avatar of the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu. Piercing through the darkness, Moon Knight is ready to glide into the action in Marvel Rivals! Summoning sacred ankhs that connect him to Khonshu, Marc Spector unleashes Crescent Darts that bounce between foes and a powerful Moon Blade to finish them off. He’s ready to take down his enemies, and won’t stop until he claims victory in his master’s name.
As said, Moon Knight is not exactly an obscure pick, especially after his critically successful Disney+ show, but he is a bit off the wall from what many people were expecting. Characters such as Dr. Doom, Wolverine, and Blade have yet to make the roster, though certainly some of them will probably make the cut (Dr. Doom himself is the main antagonist of the game, and almost certainly going to be playable at some point) it would have been expected to see them before Moon Knight’s reveal.
That’s not to say this is a bad thing, Deadpool was in a similar situation over a decade ago and now he’s one of Marvel’s powerhouse names. If Marvel continues to strengthen some of the more obscure picks on their roster such as Moon Knight he could very well follow in Deadpool’s footsteps. Look forward to playing as Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals, coming December 6th, 2024 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam.
