New MCU rumors have emerged regarding the future of Kang the Conqueror and two Ant-Man characters.
Jonathan Majors played Kang the Conqueror in Marvel Studios’ Loki series, as well as in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The character was intended to be the main antagonist in the fourth Avengers movie — which, at that time, was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but has now been renamed to Avengers: Doomsday.
Majors was fired from his MCU role following his 2023 harassment and assault conviction. As Marvel has largely steered away from referencing the Kang character since then, many are wondering when, if at all, he’ll show up again.
According to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, Marvel won’t recast Majors’ role “just to kill him off.” This doesn’t mean that MCU fans will never see Kang again, as he could be brought back with a role that doesn’t immediately see him die; however, this seems unlikely at this time. Perez also said in January 2025 that Kang’s MCU future is “null and void.”
It’s important to note that these are just rumors, and nothing has been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios at this time.
When asked if there are any characters he feels “we’ll say goodbye to by the end of the Multiverse saga,” Perez pointed to Ant-Man’s Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne.
The former is played by Michael Douglas, who appeared in Avengers: Endgame in addition to 2015’s Ant-Man, 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Janet, meanwhile, is portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer, who was in the second and third Ant-Man movies as well as Avengers: Endgame.
There have not been any official announcements whether or not Douglas and Pfeiffer will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, or any other upcoming MCU projects.
