The best shot of Sentry shows him covered in shadow, but we get a longer and a more complete look at him than we have in any of the “Thunderbolts*” trailers so far.

We also hear a lot more about him. The spot opens with Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) saying “He’s stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one, and soon to be known as Earth’s mightiest hero.” A male voice says “Why would a god take orders from anyone at all?” Finally we hear who appears to be Sentry himself saying, “Maybe I need to show you what I’m capable of.”
It remains to be seen exactly what Sentry’s origin story is in the MCU.
In the comics, Bob Reynolds/Sentry has a split personality and his other persona is that of The Void, a malevolent villain. Presumably, it’s The Void we’re seeing in this spot and others turning people into shadows.
In the source material, both Bob and the rest of the Marvel Universe is forced to forget that Bob is a hero in order to prevent more death and destruction by The Void. Sentry eventually remembers who he is and the revelation isn’t necessarily to everyone’s benefit.
For example in the line-wide event and miniseries “World War Hulk,” Sentry is sent after the Hulk because he’s seen as the only available hero powerful enough to match him. However, the temptation of being able to unleash his power without check proves too much for him. It winds up being the Hulk who must defeat the Sentry to stop the latter from engulfing the world in flames.
Lewis Pullman is one of the many actors who has been confirmed to be appearing in “Avengers: Doomsday,” so presumably the Sentry will survive the events of “Thunderbolts*” and perhaps will be an ally to the heroes in the later film.
“Thunderbolts*” hits theaters May 2, 2025. The movie is directed by Jake Schreier. The film stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Price, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
