A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 player has shared a heartwarming tribute to one of the game’s developers, hidden in the game’s rendition of Central Park. New York as seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has plenty of secrets to discover, and Insomniac Games has ensured this individual has their very own slice of the city waiting to be found.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released recently to critical acclaim, building on everything that made the original game great. Reviews for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 praised the relationship between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as well as the innovations made to the already-stellar movement from previous games. There’s certainly plenty to love about the game, but the inclusion of tributes like this elevates the game to another level.

The heartwarming tribute was found and shared on Reddit by user Toy-Funtime, although the user was initially inquiring about its purpose in-game. Other gamers in the thread revealed that the mosaic found in Central Park is actually a tribute to Insomniac Games developer Craig Goodman, who passed away in 2019. Goodman spent 15 years building a legacy at Insomniac Games, working on titles such as Ratchet & Clank as well as the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. Now, he has been immortalized as possibly the best Easter egg in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The game does an amazing job of paying tribute to those who have contributed, both at Insomniac Games and Marvel. There’s even a Chadwick Boseman Easter egg in Spider-Man 2, paying respect to the late actor’s enduring contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Panther. Both tributes are subtle, but add a lot for those who are aware of what they’re referencing. It’s possible there are even more hidden by Insomniac Games that players have yet to discover. If they do exist, hopefully gamers can uncover them and share them online to ensure they can be fully appreciated by the community.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t just focus on heartwarming Easter eggs. There are also some that hint toward the future of Marvel video games, including one Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Easter egg hinting toward the Fantastic Four. With Insomniac hitting it out of the park once more with the iconic web-slinger, and Marvel’s Wolverine on the way from the studio in the future, it makes sense that Marvel would trust Insomniac Games with another of its biggest properties. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it’s definitely an interesting prospect to think about.
