After its launch in October earlier this year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New Game+ mode has been a much-awaited feature. This mode was announced by the developers a while ago and was supposedly coming later in 2023. However, a recent statement made by Insomniac Games promises New Game Plus, along with other key features, will be part of an update in early 2024.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has garnered the love and attention of PlayStation players worldwide and was even nominated for seven awards at The Game Awards 2023 ceremony. Despite being a PS5 exclusive, the game sold over 11 million copies within the first five days of its launch. Naturally, a lot of players have completed the campaign since then and are looking for new ways of exploring and swinging across New York once again.

The game’s New Game+ feature will likely add more content to the campaign, but we’ve yet to hear more about it from Insomniac.

Based on the tweet by Insomniac Games, fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can look forward to the following updates in early 2024:

A New Game+ mode that allows players to re-experience the game’s story but with familiar skillsets and features.
A mission replay system that lets players play their preferred missions again.
Tendril colors will have the option to be swapped, adding a cosmetic charm to crime-fighting.
The time of day will be under the players’ control. This is a good option for those wanting to experience the city at certain times of the day.

These are just some of the features mentioned specifically. Insomniac has subtly mentioned that there will be quite a few more changes coming to the game. We’ll likely have to wait a while until we hear more about these changes.

These features seem like a blend of quality-of-life updates and changes that will add life to the open-world nature of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s overall appeal. Considering how the game has been the spotlight of many conversations lately, it’s likely to see the experience getting hyped even further once Insomniac adds and revamps content within the game.

The update will feature multiple new quality-of-life changes and breathe new life into the open-world nature of the game.

Recently, players of Alan Wake 2 received a pleasant surprise: a New Game+ mode that did something quite unique. Usually, developers allow this mode as a version of re-experiencing the game’s story while keeping cosmetics, XP, and so on from the first playthrough.

However, with Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment added another layer to the storyline, which may or may not alter the game’s ending sequences for players.

This clearly sets the bar for what players can expect from a triple-A game like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and we’re yet to receive an official word about how New Game+ will work exactly with Insominac’s massive open world. By default, the game has a lot to offer. We’re looking at an 18-20-hour storyline with a huge map to explore and get used to. Not to forget: side-quests, collectibles, and 68+ suits to unlock.

Furthermore, Audio Descriptions will be part of the update, which is a great touch to the game’s accessibility options. Overall, it seems that the studio is focused on bringing impactful quality-of-life changes to the game going forward.

Insomniac has also mentioned how the features as part of the update are just a ‘few’ changes. Earlier in October, a member of Insomniac told the community how this update was initially planned to be released before the end of 2023.

However, plans seem to have shifted since, and we might see more than just a few features with the massive update in early 2024. The next best thing fans could get informed about would certainly be more details about how New Game+ adds to the experience.
