The television series that formerly went by the title Young Avengers and is now dubbed Marvel’s Champions now has a writer. Per Nexus Point News, Rachna Fruchbom is slated to write the series for Disney+ that is reportedly in early development at Marvel Studios. She will also run the series and serve as executive producer.
Fruchbom is currently a co-executive producer on the Apple TV+ series Shrinking. She also co-executive produced Max’s series And Just Like That… and was a co-executive and supervising producer on the ABC series Fresh Off the Boat. Fruchbom also wrote two episodes of the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. She is currently working on Season 3 of Shrinking, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
Marvel’s Champions has been rumored to be in development since characters like Cassie Lang, Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Kid Loki, Eli Bradley, Riri Williams, America Chavez, and Billy Maximoff were introduced. The show will likely consist of a mixture of the young “Champions” and the younger “Avengers,” especially given Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) and Kamala’s (Iman Vellani) scene at the end of The Marvels.

Champions Could Start Filming This Year
Comic Book Movie reports that production was originally set to start late next year, but there has been talk that it would be pushed back until 2026, which would mean it would likely make its debut after the Avengers: Secret Wars movie, which is slated for 2027.
The Latest Avengers Film Comes Next Year
The first Phase 6 film in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday, is filming in London currently and is set for a May 1, 2026, release. The film is being directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and will feature Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Dr. Victor von Doom.
In an interview with Omelete, Joe Russo said that the pair were hesitant to jump on board the project, even with Downey in the mix. “Robert tried to talk us into doing (Doomsday and Secret Wars), and we said no,” Joe said. “We just didn’t have a story. We didn’t have a way in. We were resistant for a while,” he said. One thing changed, though, that made them agree to return to the MCU. The team also directed Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
“One day, Stephen McFeely, one of our chief collaborators, said, ‘I have an idea.’ We went, ‘That’s the story! That story has to be told. It’s a really powerful story,” Joe said. McFeeley penned the script for Doomsday.
