It’s been nearly seven years since Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was released. Needless to say, it was widely believed that Capcom and Disney’s business relationship had become strained due to that game flopping critically and commercially.

As a result, the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was quite a surprise for fans. This collection will contain X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and The Punisher.

With all of this in mind, the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has some big implications for the future of the Versus series. If this collection performs well enough, could a true sequel to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Marvel vs. Capcom 4, actually be in the cards?

As it turns out, there’s more pointing towards the possibility of Marvel vs. Capcom 4 becoming reality. A few days ago, Stealth noted something interesting that happened in the latest issue of the Deadpool comic.

During this particular scene, Deadpool can be seen flying through the air while shooting robed figures with a pair of handguns. Throughout all of this, Deadpool can be heard saying “Deadpool and Taskmaster. Best. Friends. For. Ever!”

Eventually, Deadpool finds himself tumbling back to the ground. As the smoke clears, he makes one more statement on this page.

“They should put that move… in Marvel vs. Capcom 4.” Notably, Deadpool was playable in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but was absent for some reason in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

Could this be some sort of hint that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is already in the works, or is the writer just having Deadpool break the fourth wall just to mess with fans? Check it all out below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
