Leaks concerning upcoming heroes and villains in Marvel Rivals have been rampant. With Season 0 ending soon and Season 1 on the horizon, dataminers have found a variety of new characters in the game’s files. However, it’s undetermined how many heroes will be launching Marvel Rivals Season 1 and how many are slated for a later date.

As of December 31, at least fifteen new characters are rumored to join the game. With Marvel Rivals leaks gaining momentum, one hero already stands out as a perfect fit. Valkyrie, known for her Asgardian ties, is expected to join the third-person hero shooter in the near future.

Though Marvel Rivals has grown incredibly popular, fans have noticed that NetEase Games puts players into bot lobbies, which has led to controversy.

Deadpool

Emma Frost

Hit-Monkey

Human Torch *

Invisible Woman *

Jean Grey / Phoenix

Valkyrie

Information from leaks is subject to change or may be false, so players should not take this list as fact.

Which version of Valkyrie will be coming to NetEase Games’ latest free-to-play title remains to be seen. The most significant is the warrior Brunnhilde. As a member of the Valkyrior, a group of female warriors who guide the souls of fallen heroes to Valhalla, she is an ally of Thor and has worked alongside the Avengers and Defenders. Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is directly inspired by Brunnhilde, albeit with a few unique traits.

Another notable version is Jane Foster, who accepted the role of Valkyrie in War of the Realms (2019). Marvel Comics fans may also note that Samantha Parrington, introduced in The Incredible Hulk #142 (1971), briefly became Valkyrie after the Enchantress manipulated her. Years later, she permanently adopted the personality in The Defenders (vol. 2) #4 (2001).

Regardless, with Valkyrie rumored to be joining Marvel Rivals, there’s a lot of speculation as to what her kit could look like. She typically wields melee-based weapons throughout her comic book history and MCU appearances. This includes her sword, Dragonfang, battle axes, spears, and oftentimes a shield.

Valkyrie Already Primed for Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals

Leakers have not shared details beyond her name, leaving fans divided over whether she will be a Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist. Still, her arrival is the next logical step in Marvel Rivals‘ future. The game currently features three other Asgardian characters: Hela, Thor, and Loki, with Valkyrie poised to be the potential fourth.

Notably, Hela, Thor, and Loki all benefit from Ragnarok Rebirth when on the same team. During this Marvel Rivals Team-Up Ability, when Hela secures a final hit on an enemy, she can instantly resurrect one of her brothers if they’re already dead or grant them bonus health if they are still alive. While Valkyrie doesn’t share any familial ties with Hela, she could benefit from the same or a new Team-Up skill.

As Marvel Rivals continues to expand its roster, adding more characters inspired by Norse mythology makes complete sense. With two maps already dedicated to the sacred World Tree of Norse cosmology, Yggsgard: Royal Palace and Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path, the female warrior of Valhalla would likely be a welcome addition to the Asgardian-inspired lineup. Hopefully, NetEase Games will reveal official details about her soon.
