Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is coming soon, and there were a few surprises with the announcement trailer for the season. Although The Fantastic Four showcase wasn’t a surprise to anyone paying attention to the numerous leaks plaguing the game since before its full release, the reveal that Dracula would be the villain was more surprising. The world’s most famous vampire isn’t exactly known for his strong presence in Marvel Comics, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any interactions with other heroes in the universe.
If what was done with Doom is any indication of what NetEase has planned for Dracula in Marvel Rivals, he will probably have very little to do with the actual game, acting more as an overall presence that characters reference and talk about. It would be interesting to see how the roster of Marvel Rivals speaks about Dracula, considering that his interactions with many heroes aren’t as well-known or well-documented as Doom’s. Still, Dracula is known for having a strong link with a certain champion of Khonshu, one to whom he owes money.
Dracula Appears To Be The Villain In Season 1
Season 1 Is Titled Eternal Night Falls
Dracula is the narrator and apparent villain of the Marvel Rivals Season 1 trailer on YouTube, making enemies of The Fantastic Four as he attacks New York City and the Baxter Building. Although not who most people would think of as a Marvel villain, Dracula has already been mentioned in Marvel Rivals by Magik and Scarlet Witch, being referred to as a would-be-tyrant alongside Khonshu and Apocalypse. His attack on New York might also suggest a Baxter Building or New York City map in Season 1.
The Baxter Building is home to The Fantastic Four, characterized by a giant “4” on the front.
According to the lore of Marvel Rivals, Dracula controls the Darkhold and uses it to imprison New York for an endless night as he attacks it with his army of vampires. The vampire involvement will likely include the leaked hero and vampire hunter, Blade, later in the season, although even Blade might have a hard time dealing with Dracula’s new-found power. Still, if popular memes are anything to go by, there is a character in the roster that Dracula should fear despite his new powers.
Marvel Rivals Could Revive Hilarious Moon Knight Moment
It’s Not Official, But Worth A Reference
In an edited comic panel, Moon Knight famously hunts down Dracula because the vampire owes him money, calling him a nerd in the process. The edit became so popular that many believed it was real, and this began a trend of editing Moon Knight panels to the point where most don’t know what’s real and what’s not. Moon Knight is already in Marvel Rivals, and Dracula’s inclusion means that things couldn’t be any more perfect to reference the meme in which Moon Knight hunts for his money.

Should Dracula be a playable character in Marvel Rivals?
Dracula has been revealed as the first major villain in Marvel Rivals season 1. So far, it has yet to be revealed whether the character will be playable or not. I would love to play as Dracula, as I believe the game needs to have more villains. Having a few heroes and one villain coming every season would be great for the longevity of the game, and with Moon Knight already available, I think there is fun potential for Marvel Rivals with the two and making a pop culture moment canon through a voice line.
The team behind Marvel Rivals are clearly fans of Marvel Comics. This can be seen in the characters chosen for the game, how they interact, and their designs. Although not originally in the comics, referencing one of Moon Knight’s most famous interactions would be a perfect way to do something for the fans. Moon Knight already has some hilarious interactions in Marvel Rivals, and just adding a line about how he’s going to get his money once Dracula is stopped would be the icing on the cake.
