Daredevil is a hero of many talents with an irresistible aura that has given him more love interests than most other superheroes, but it’s not simply his intellectual career of law or his vigilante persona that makes him so popular within the Marvel Universe. One of his past lovers, Elektra, reveals exactly why so many fall for Matt Murdock, which is oddly also why Wolverine can’t keep a partner and resents Daredevil.

In the preview to Daredevil #15, Daredevil contends with the demons released by his return from Hell, targeting people close to him. When Daredevil begins to blame himself, Elektra tells him he has nothing to atone for because he doesn’t embody the sins attacking people. In listing off why Daredevil doesn’t embody the seven sins, Elektra explains that his many loves aren’t due to ‘lust,’ but because of a true love that is obvious to anyone he’s with.

Wolverine of the X-Men has voiced his frustration in the past for why women prefer Daredevil, but Elektra’s explanation makes it abundantly clear why. Daredevil #15 comes from Saladin Ahmed, Luigi Zagaria, Jesus Abertov and Clayton Cowles

Daredevil Truly Loves the Women He’s With, With Elektra Denying He’s Lustful

As Matt Murdock Is Literally Pursued by His Sins, the Difference Is Important

Daredevil has had a tumultuous love life, including romances with fellow heroes Elektra, Black Widow, Echo, Black Cat, Moondragon, and She-Hulk (in the MCU.) He was engaged to Heather Glenn and married both Elektra and Milla Donovan, the latter of who he cheated on with private investigator Dakota North. Matt’s most famous love interest is Karen Page, who was murdered by his nemesis Bullseye, and he had intense relationships with the villainous Typhoid Mary and the mob-connected Mindy Libris.

Matt often beats himself up over his love life, and especially cheating on Milla, but Elektra reframes his many romances as a result of his genuinely loving nature. In contrast, while Wolverine has had many relationships, he is defined by his loner nature, running away from those close to him at any opportunity.

Wolverine Admits He’s Jealous of Matt Murdock’s Love Life

Wolverine #24 from Mark Millar, John Romita Jr., Klaus Janson, Paul Mounts and Randy Gentile

In Wolverine #24, Wolverine voices his jealousy of Daredevil, wondering why so many women are interested in him. At the time, Logan had been corrupted by the Hand, bringing his worst impulses to the surface. Fighting Daredevil, Wolverine reflects, “What do they see in you, Murdock? … You’re not that smart. You’re not that rich. You’re not that funny.” Elektra’s conversation with Daredevil reveals Matt Murdock isn’t afraid to love and get close to people, which is something Wolverine is afraid of. This was perfectly shown when he lost his healing factor, rejecting his many friends’ attempts to help him through the difficult time (as seen in Paul Cornell and Ryan Stegman’s Wolverine #4.)

Daredevil fans know that Matt Murdock has more than his share of demons, but Elektra also mentions that he has so much more to offer with his proactive nature, selflessness, and ability to love deeply. While Wolverine and Daredevil share a love of violence, Daredevil is better at being open to those he cares about in ways Wolverine simply won’t.

Daredevil #15 will be available on November 20, 2024, from Marvel Comics!
