Marvel has been gradually reintroducing the X-Men for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have already seen a cameo of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with further plans for Deadpool 3 to connect continuities even more. Now fans are expressing their disappointment with the latest announced X-Men member.

The Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel set the stage for the upcoming movie The Marvels. Iman Vellani’s character, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, is a popular one from the comics. One of her interesting backstories is that she was actually an Inhuman. However, the new storylines being created by Marvel have changed her from an Inhuman to a Mutant.

A similar reveal was made at the end of the aforementioned Disney Plus series. Now, with the latest series Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, fans are expressing their disappointment with this new X-Men character. Particularly because Ms. Marvel actress Iman Vellani is even involved with the comic, and as such, could appear as a Mutant in the MCU’s new X-Men movies.

This was noted by insider @CanWeGetToast on X, who pointed out that “there’s a reason Ms. Marvel is a mutant in the comics and is part of the X-Men now,” and he further emphasizes how “Iman Vellani is co-writing the comic no less.”

Here are some of the complaints shared by fans:

Of course, we’ll have to see how Marvel’s plans for the character pan out. It’s possible that The Marvels will further set the stage for Kamala Khan as a part of the X-Men.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the MCU, Ms. Marvel, and the reintroduction of the X-Men as we have them. For now, it looks like fans should expect to see much more from Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan. Especially now that she’s become categorized as the shared universe’s first Mutant.
