The following contains major spoilers for Ultimate Spider-Man #13, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Marvel’s new Ultimate Spider-Man isn’t Peter Parker, but he is perfect for the job.
Peter Parker and Harry Osborn are both missing, but that doesn’t mean that New York City is completely devoid of heroes. As seen in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man #13, there is still a wall-crawling web-slinger in town for the people on the ground to look up to, although this isn’t the Spider-Man they are used to. Instead, it is Peter’s young son Richard, and even if he doesn’t have the same level of experience as his father, he is more than fit for the job.

The son of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, Richard Parker II made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of 2024’s Ultimate Spider-Man #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Marcho Checchetto. Like his sister, May, Richard grew up in a relatively easygoing home without ever knowing the possibility of superheroes. At least, that was the case until the Maker was defeated and imprisoned, which gave rise to the likes of Tony Stark as Iron Lad and the rest of his team of Ultimates.
Not long after the Maker was defeated, Tony Stark reached out to Peter Parker and explained the fantastical life that was stolen away from him so many years prior. After subjecting himself to the bite of a radioactive spider, this world’s Peter was finally imbued with all the powers he was supposed to receive as a teenager. Though Peter faltered through his earliest encounters with the villains of his world, he quickly figured out exactly what he was supposed to be doing and how, albeit with some help from the impossibly capable pico-tech Spider Suit designed for him by Iron Lad.

With their world’s Otto Octavius backing them up from afar, the pair have been able to overcome all manner of threats. Unfortunately, they still ended up falling into the clutches of the Sinister Six, who only have the world in store for New York City’s would-be champions.
