iZombie star Rahul Kohli was never in the running for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four. The actor has clarified his recent comments on the Salaam Nerds podcast, which subsequently went viral across social media.

In an Instagram Stories post, which was later posted on X by trusted insider Alex Perez, Kohli shared a screenshot of the Deadline article “Rahul Kohli Talks Losing ‘Fantastic Four’ Role Of Reed Richards” along with the following message: “Fucking hell, this is being blown way out of proportion. I wasn’t gonna address it but I guess I have to now. I said during a podcast ‘I didn’t get it.’ It didn’t say I was in the running or I lost to Pedro Pascal or I was being considered or close to being in it. I just didn’t get it and it was part of a larger point about fancasting and mental health.”

‘It’s a Very Distinct Character’: Paul Walter Hauser Teases Fantastic Four Role in MCU Reboot

The Fantastic Four star Paul Walter Hauser teases his mysterious role in the highly-anticipated MCU reboot of Marvel’s first family.

Kohli was one of the many actors who fans were hoping would be cast in the role. While many took the actor’s “I didn’t get it” comment to mean that he was one of the possible finalists for Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, it seems that he was simply explaining that he was never in contention for the role despite the strong support from the Marvel fandom. Part of the confusion could have stemmed from him prefacing “I didn’t get it” with “I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it,” which many might have read as a sign that he had talked about the role with Marvel Studios, given how protective the latter is about leaks and spoilers.

Rahul Kohli Is Happy Pedro Pascal Is Playing Reed Richards

Kohli also shared on Instagram that he held no ill will towards Pascal for landing the role of Mister Fantastic. “As for the role, Pedro is one of my favourite actors out there, a lovely person, and I can’t think of a better actor to play Reed. We were never ‘up against each other,’ I was never even in his league to begin with,” he wrote. “I’m stoked for him and can’t wait to watch! Apologies everyone, lesson learned.”
