Knull will finally be introduced to live-action by Sony in Venom: The Last Dance, a development that the villain’s co-creator has now addressed. Sony just unveiled a final trailer that confirms Venom: The Last Dance‘s villain will be Knull, one of Marvel Comics’ most fearsome and powerful characters. This means that Venom will quite literally meet his maker in the climactic Venom: The Last Dance, as Knull is the eldritch god of all symbiotes.

Meanwhile, Knull’s co-creator, Ryan Stegman, has reacted to this development via X, where he revealed that the final trailer was the first he’d heard of Knull being involved in the project before joking that he expects to “finally be able to afford that lazy river moat around [his] house.”

Stegman created Knull alongside fellow comic book writer and artist, Donny Cates. The villain debuted in 2018’s “Venom” vol. 4 #3 as the God of the Symbiotes and an exceptionally powerful primordial deity who would become one of Marvel Comics’ most prolific and consequential villains. This alone shows how climactic Venom: The Last Dance will be, though it appears Stegman is none the wiser to its details.

Venom’s Final Villain Is A God

Knull’s power level is hard to overstate and is a far cry from the villains that Venom has faced thus far in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The God of Symbiotes is ostensibly Venom’s ancestor and holds sway over all symbiotes and the Void itself. The fact that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is limited to depicting Spider-Man-related characters and no other Marvel characters makes predicting his impact difficult, however, as Knull’s presence in Marvel Comics spans several stories.

Thor is also responsible for cleaving Knull from his direct control of the symbiote hive mind.

Knull is a primary villain to Venom, though his cosmic nature has also put him at direct odds with heroes like Thor. Knull is the creator of All Black the Necrosword, the god-slaying blade wielded by Gorr the God Butcher, and the weapon that makes him a formidable opponent to Thor. Thor is also responsible for cleaving Knull from his direct control of the symbiote hive mind. This gave rise to independent symbiotes, like Venom, who seek their own purpose after imprisoning Knull on the home planet of Klyntar.

I’m Convinced Venom: The Last Dance Should Be The Best Venom Movie

After Venom: The Last Dance’s trailer and recent updates, I’m convinced that the movie could be Tom Hardy’s best in the role, ending it in style.

Nevertheless, The “King in Black” run of comics sees Knull freed and ready to wreak devastating vengeance before killing Eddie Brock on Earth. The “The Last Dance” subtitle seems to threaten this turn of events in Venom: The Last Dance, meaning Knull’s arrival could spell doom for Venom and his Sony trilogy. If so, it would be a major turn of events that may even give rise to further appearances by the eldritch horror down the line. Even if it does end with Knull’s death, it’s safe to say that Venom: The Last Dance will end with a bang.
