Kevin Feige is the godfather of Marvel Studios, serving as the architect for one of the most profitable franchises in the world. However, a new rumor suggests Feige will be stepping back from the studio following Avengers: Secret Wars to helm the Star Wars franchise.
It’s no secret that Kevin Feige is a massive fan of Star Wars, even considering helming a (now scrapped) project for the franchise. A rumor from Hollywood insider “MyTimeToShineHello” teases that Feige may be looking to have a more active hand in the universe, as it suggests he’ll step down as Marvel Studios President to take over Lucasfilm following the release of Avengers: Secret Wars:
Of course, this is all a rumor, and not one too likely to come true. While Kevin Feige does love Star Wars, the X-Men are his baby, getting his start at Marvel Studios working on the original 2000 film. It’s unlikely he’d leave the studio after Avengers: Secret Wars given that’s when the mutants would be appearing in full force. Though as with all rumors, only time will tell what’s true or not.
Lucasfilm announced three new movies during this year’s Star Wars Celebration in the United Kingdom. The first of the three Star Wars movies will be directed by James Mangold and will focus on the first Jedi to use The Force. Mangold is best known for directing hit movies such as Logan and Ford v Ferrari.
The second Star Wars movie will be directed by Dave Filoni and will culminate the events of the Star Wars series stremaing on Disney Plus. Filoni is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having worked on numerous projects, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
The third and final Star Wars movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and will be set 15 years after The Rise of the Skywalker, with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey. It will focus on the New Jedi order and promises to bring a new perspective to the Star Wars universe. Obaid-Chinoy is an Academy Award-winning director and is the first woman from Pakistan to receive the honor.
