Venom
run, Kang the Conqueror taught Venom how harness his King in Black powers to travel the Marvel timeline, in one of the most pivotal steps in the evolution of Eddie Brock’s character.
Time travel has becoming increasingly crucial in the story of Brock, as Venom, as Al Ewing has charted the latest era of the former
Spider-Man
villain.
Eddie Brock’s unexpected journey as Kang’s student has led to wild adventures, as significant plot developments in the Venom storyline, including playing a role in the upcoming “Venom War” event.
Avengers villain Kang the Conqueror once taught a classic Spider-Man antagonist the nuances of time travel in the Marvel Universe; subsequently, traversing time has become pivotal to Venom’s character arc in recent years. As it turned out, it was Kang who taught Eddie Brock, the symbiote-wearing anti-hero, the art of moving seamlessly between points on Marvel’s timeline.
In Venom #9 – by Al Ewing, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Alex Sinclair, and Clayton Cowles – Eddie Brock ended up untethered from time, where he fell through the past and the future, before ending up on Kang’s warship. While Eddie initially viewed Kang as an enemy, he was surprised to see that Kang considered him an ally.
Kang helped Eddie learn how to control his new temporal powers, knowledge that would be instrumental in trying to save his son, Dylan. Using the skills learned from Kang, Eddie was able to go back in time and lead Dylan away from dangerous situations.
Venom’s Horrifying Future Is Finally Revealed (Buckle Up)
In the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ Venom, the King in Black Eddie Brock learns the horrible truth about his future and the fate of his son Dylan.
Eddie Brock wasn’t exactly used to cosmic adventures at the start of Al Ewing’s

run, though he’s had to become acclimated quickly.
Eddie Brock wasn’t exactly used to cosmic adventures at the start of Al Ewing’s Venom run, though he’s had to become acclimated quickly. Early in Ewing’s Venom, Brock’s body was destroyed in an explosion. His consciousness was vaulted to the symbiote garden, far in the future. From there, with his powers as Marvel’s “King in Black”, he was able to send his conscience back in time to any symbiotic matter he could reach out to. However, this proved immensely difficult, and Borck would often miss his mark, and end up in random places.
Ultimately, he was only able to master this ability with the help of Kang the Conqueror. Kang is one of Marvel’s most powerful time travelers. Few characters are as capable of manipulating the time stream as him. This is what made him the perfect teacher for Eddie Brock, though Kang’s own motivations for teaching him remained a mystery for a while. It was eventually revealed that he had been working with Meridius, a major antagonist in Ewing’s Venom run, but regardless of his motivations, he gave Eddie Brock an essential new power, which has come to define his current era.
As part of his evolution from villain, to anti-hero, to a largely heroic character, Eddie Brock has been increasingly more wild adventures. It is fair to say that his time as a student of Kang the Conqueror is among his most unexpected plot developments.
As part of his evolution from villain, to anti-hero, to a largely heroic character, Eddie Brock has been increasingly more wild adventures. It is fair to say that his time as a student of Kang the Conqueror is among his most unexpected plot developments. The time travel element of Venom continues to be and important part of Eddie Brock’s character arc, and it may very well lead to the upcoming Venom War event. Venom has come a long way from his time antagonizing Spider-Man, and he couldn’t have elevated himself into one of Marvel’s top characters without the help of Kang the Conqueror.
