Werewolf by Night is making a major comeback in Marvel Comics with a brand-new story that any MCU fan shouldn’t miss. Michael Giacchino, the director of Marvel Studios’Special Presentation of Werewolf by Night, will be making the leap from the MCU to the comics as he pens an exciting tale that draws from this iconic character’s deep and unimaginably terrifying history.
Marvel Comics has announced a new story entitled Werewolf by Night: Blood Moon Rise, which will be written by MCU director Michael Giacchino with art by David Messina, and it will also feature a short story by Jason Loo. Cover art by Tyler Kirkham depicts Werewolf by Night himself, setting the stage for a frightening adventure.
Giacchino describes this upcoming comic as “a lost story from the original run, in a way”, making this the perfect read for long-time fans of Werewolf by Night. Moreover, the MCU director’s involvement will inspire those who enjoyed the Special Presentation to give this story a try once it releases in July.

Marvel’s Werewolf by Night: Blood Moon Rise one-shot will depict the horrifying title character as he faces off against Dracula in what will undoubtedly be a blood-soaked battle of hair-raising proportions, with two iconic monsters going toe-to-toe. The synopsis for the story reads as follows:
WEREWOLF BY NIGHT: BLOOD MOON RISE spotlights what makes Werewolf By Night such a captivating Marvel icon, with over fifty years of comics history – and a hundred times as many bodies in his wake! In addition to Giacchino’s story that pits the tortured hero against Dracula, the one-shot will also have a backup story by Jason Loo, writer of the current WEREWOLF BY NIGHT: RED BAND (2024) comic series, celebrating the character’s history and future along with various bonus material.
Jack Russell’s Werewolf by Night first originated in 1971’s Marvel Spotlight #2, though the initial concept for the character can be traced back to 1953’s Marvel Tales #116. This Marvel monster has decades of history under his belt, and Giacchino’s new Werewolf by Night comic will celebrate his history in a big way.
