Two of pop culture’s most destructive monsters are going head-to-head, as Godzilla and Hulk officially clash. Toho has just announced Godzilla vs Hulk – a one-shot comic in which the King of Monsters will take on Marvel’s Green Goliath. 2025 will see various heroes take on Godzilla, including the Fantastic Four and Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. However, the title bout is undeniably Hulk vs Godzilla, as two children of the bomb unleash hell on the Marvel Universe.
As announced on Godzilla.com, Godzilla vs Hulk #1 will follow March’s Godzilla vs Fantastic Four. The comic will see Godzilla take on General Thunderbolt Ross’ monster-hunting Thunderbolts team, who will seemingly unleash the Hulk in order to take down their ultimate quarry, leading to what’s billed as “the most destructive battle royale to ever rock the earth.”

The Marvel Universe is no stranger to giant monsters – indeed, it seems the Thunderbolts will take on most of them in this issue – but Godzilla is a different breed, and it’s possible even the Jade Giant’s immense strength won’t be able to topple the iconic kaiju. Writer Gerry Duggan says:
I grew up loving Godzilla movies and Marvel Comics, and it’s a thrill to be able to collaborate with Giuseppe Camuncoli on the absolute craziest comic I think I’ve ever been a part of, and I worked on over a hundred issues of Deadpool and once wrote a comic about Conan killing a zombie with a call girl’s leg. I won’t tell you who wins – the Hulk or Godzilla – but either way, the fans are going to be thrilled.

Marvel Is Also Collecting Godzilla’s First Attack on Its Heroes
Godzilla vs Hulk is part of Marvel’s epic Godzilla vs Marvel event, with six comics showcasing the King of Monsters taking on a variety of heroes. Marvel is also celebrating the King of Monsters’ attack with a new collection of the long-out-of-print 1970s Godzilla comic series, also set in the Marvel Universe. Godzilla vs Hulk will depict a no-holds-barred fight between Godzilla and Hulk, as well as showing both monsters taking on the Thunderbolts, whose own movie Thunderbolts* is coming May 2025. Artist Giuseppe Camuncoli says:
When Marvel called with this offer, I was quite thrilled. It felt very cool to draw this titan, although the real challenge was to make the iconic ‘70s version look extra scary and dangerous. Thanks to Gerry Duggan’s blazing script, it was quite easy – lots and lots of super crazy scenes to illustrate, I knew this was going to be so much fun. Two of the most powerful and relentless characters and forces in the pop culture world face to face for the first time… I couldn’t resist to be the one to draw that!
