Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Ultimates #8! Deadpool’s healing factor is perhaps the strongest version of that particular power in Marvel Comics. He can be dismembered, decapitated, and even blown to smithereens and still keep kicking. Wade Wilson’s healing factor is a result of Weapon X experimentation, and in the end, that experimentation definitely paid off, since Wade became the virtually unkillable Deadpool. However, that doesn’t mean Deadpool is totally invincible, as there are more than a few weapons that can, indeed, kill him – and Marvel just introduced one more.

In The Ultimates #8 by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri, readers are introduced to the Guardians of the Galaxy of Earth-6160. The team is from the distant future of the 61st Century, and they traveled back in time to the 21st Century to rescue America Chavez. In the Ultimate Universe, America was originally a Guardian of the Galaxy from the future who got lost in the timestream, resulting in her being trapped in the modern day with amnesia. She had no memory of her past, so when the Guardians tried to take her away, her fellow Ultimates jumped into action.

While the Ultimates’ efforts are valiant, they are almost laughably futile. The Guardians of the Galaxy are god-tier, as they wield power that the Ultimates “don’t even have names for – including and especially one Guardian in particular: Ultimate Nullifier. Ultimate Nullifier is the living embodiment of the universe-killing device from Earth-616, and they wield a weapon that can concentrate that power on a single target called the N-Gun (which fires Ø-Bullets). This weapon was strong enough to not only kill Mephisto, but erase his essence from the universe so thoroughly that it’s as if he never existed.

Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun is Strong Enough to Kill Anyone, Including Deadpool

There’s No Way Deadpool Can Survive Being Shot with an Ø-Bullet

A single Ø-Bullet fired from Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun was enough to utterly obliterate Mephisto in the past, present, and future. Not only that, but the weapon even erased all the suffering brought upon the universe by hell. Mephisto and every evil thing the demon king was responsible for was killed in a single instant, which is especially impressive given Mephisto’s proven level of god-tier power. Mephisto can rewrite reality, imbue mortals with the strength of gods, and manipulate cosmic powerhouses to his liking. Yet even he was utterly powerless in the face of Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun.

If someone like Mephisto can be so thoroughly destroyed by the N-Gun, then it’s safe to say that no one in the Marvel Universe is safe – and that includes Deadpool. Deadpool might be able to survive getting his head cut off, but the N-Gun would kill him in a way that his healing factor – any healing factor – would be totally powerless to counter. The N-Gun isn’t powerful in a way that can be comparable to any other weapon, as it seems to act as an almost meta eraser that completely eliminates anything it shoots, wiping them from Marvel continuity forever.

The Ultimate Nullifier is Far From the Only Weapon that Can Kill Deadpool

The Anti-Regeneration Ray, Muramasa Blade, and Cosmic Cube, Just to Name a Few

While Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun certainly seems like it would do the trick in killing Deadpool for good (just as it killed Mephisto), it is far from the only weapon that can overpower Deadpool’s healing factor and kill him. From technological weapons, enchanted blades, and viruses that can break down Deadpool’s body faster than it can heal, there are more than a few weapons in Marvel Comics canon that Deadpool’s healing factor cannot fight against.

In Cable & Deadpool #1, Deadpool is infected by the Facade Virus which breaks his body down into a gooey puddle faster than he can heal. The only thing that saves him is infusing some of Cable’s DNA into his own. The techno-organic virus fends off the effects of the Facade Virus long enough for Deadpool’s healing factor to kick in. In Ultimate Fantastic Four #21, fans are introduced to the Hunger Virus, which turns anyone it infects into a zombie, including Deadpool, as not even his healing factor could keep Deadpool from joining the ranks of the undead.

There’s also the anti-regeneration ray from Deadpool Kills Deadpool, which Deadpool uses to permanently kill one of his evil variants. The Muramasa Blade is also an effective weapon against Deadpool, as shown when the villain Death Grip used it to kill Deadpool in the most recent Deadpool comic series (Deadpool Vol. 10). Also, it goes without saying that the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet, and the original Ultimate Nullifier can kill Deadpool, as those weapons have the power to destroy entire universes. So, while the N-Gun is the latest, it’s certainly not the first weapon that can kill Deadpool.

Only 1 Thing Could POSSIBLY Save Deadpool from the Ultimate Nullifier

Deadpool is a Meta Character, & Could Use His ‘Toon Logic’ to Survive the N-Gun

When taking Deadpool as a character and comparing his healing factor to the power of Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun, it seems obvious that he’d be utterly obliterated by the weapon, with no chance of his healing factor having any ability to save him in the slightest. However, Deadpool has more powers than just his healing factor, including one that’s never really been quantified or officially included in his powerset, but exists nonetheless: Deadpool’s meta awareness. Deadpool has the power to break the fourth wall, and can even occasionally edit the fabric of his comic book universe.

Plus, Deadpool operates on ‘toon logic’ in a manner comparable to Looney Tunes. His healing factor is how he’s usually able to survive the absurd antics he puts himself through, but his more outlandish adventures fully require that ‘toon logic’ for him to survive – like when he was Galactus’ Herald, or Thanos’ romantic rival. So, if Deadpool ever found himself on the bad end of Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that his ‘toon logic’ would kick in, and he’d somehow survive the Ø-Bullet.

Look, the MCU Is Great, But Marvel’s New Deadpool and Wolverine Team Up Is on Another Level

Deadpool/Wolverine #1 is here from Marvel Comics, and I’m very excited about this new series (especially in the wake of the recent MCU movie).

However, if only his healing factor is taken into account, and Deadpool’s ‘toon logic’ is taken off the table, then it’s clear to see that Ultimate Nullifier’s N-Gun would easily kill Deadpool – just like the many other weapons introduced throughout Deadpool’s Marvel Comics’ history. Indeed, this particular weapon is merely the newest one to prove that Deadpool’s healing factor isn’t unbeatable, and the proof is revealed after fans learned about the fate of the Ultimate Universe’s Mephisto.

The Ultimates #8 by Marvel Comics is available now.

Deadpool

The merc with the mouth first appeared in an issue of New Mutants in 1990, and since then has gone on to get his own series and a massive cult following. With his incredible powers of healing and regeneration, Deadpool was initially depicted as an X-Men villain but went on to become an anti-hero. After getting his own movie series starting in 2016, the third Deadpool movie finally brings the wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
