The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced some of its best characters yet in the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, but I’m shocked that one, who might be the strongest of all of them, has done nothing more than eat a meal in the franchise. While some of the strongest Avengers are confirmed to appear in the upcoming film, several have not been mentioned. This includes one hero who made an especially strange cameo in a Marvel series, and seems to have been entirely forgotten about since.

The cast of Avengers: Doomsday is phenomenal, and full of all kinds of exciting names from the X-Men, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and the Avengers. However, the list of names missing from Doomsday is even longer and more surprising. While I wasn’t expecting every Marvel character to appear, I did think that more members of the prospective Young Avengers cast, teased in The Marvels, would be part of the cast. This includes one character who was introduced in a very strange scene from 2022.

The Character Appeared In The Last Episode Of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law

Hulk’s son, Skaar, was introduced in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he attended a family barbecue. Big and green like his father, the new Hulk appeared in this single scene, and has not been seen or mentioned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since. Even as the Hulk storyline was expanded in Captain America: Brave New World with the addition of the Red Hulk, and the return of Hulk’s original love interest Betty Ross, no mention was made of Skaar or where he might be in the universe.

While many have speculated that the franchise is leading to a World War Hulk movie, none of this has been discussed in the films, and tends to instead be based upon details from the source comics.

Skaar’s story in the MCU is incredibly confusing. She-Hulk teased connections to the planet Skaar, where Bruce was found during the events of Thor: Ragnarok. However, the details of Hulk’s life there, and with whom he may have actually fathered a son, have been given no focus at all in the MCU. While many have speculated that the franchise is leading to a World War Hulk movie, none of this has been discussed in the films, and tends to instead be based upon details from the source comics.

Skaar’s Abilities Are Exciting And Unique, Even For A Hulk

While Hulk is Skaar’s father, it is actually from his mother he receives additional powers in the Marvel source material. Skaar has an appearance like his father, and also has similar strength and healing, with powers that increase with rage. Even with those powers, Skaar is on par with his father, but in the comics he also possesses something called The Old Power. This was given to him by his mother, Caeira, a member of Sakaar’s Shadow People, who also has access to this power.

For Skaar, his Old Power heritage gives him a connection with his planet. He can view its entire history, and manipulate rock and stone and lava. These abilities have been used by Skaar in many of his stories, and they have worked on both Sakaar and on Earth. Seeing Skaar’s MCU introduction take place only at a barbecue, then, where the character did not say anything or use his abilities at all, feels like such an underwhelming choice for his introduction. This has made some wonder if Skaar will be replaced in the MCU.

The MCU Has Several Perfect Upcoming Chances To Bring Back Skaar & Show Where He Fits Into The Franchise’s Power Rankings

Skaar Could Still Be A Young Avenger

While Skaar has not been seen in the MCU since 2022, that does not mean that he will not recur in the franchise. Many characters have been introduced in the Multiverse Saga and have had little to do since. 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured America Gomez, who has not yet recurred in a live-action movie, while Cassie Lang hasn’t been seen since Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, yet both seem likely to return for a prospective Young Avengers team movie or series in the franchise.

The same could be true for Skaar, and I hope that it is. Among characters like Wiccan, Kate Bishop, and Ms. Marvel, Skaar would fulfill an important role in the team, bringing his brute strength and violence. However, he could also show an exciting new side to the Hulk powerset by integrating elements of his Old Power into his fights. If included in the team, Skaar could quickly and clearly prove himself to be among the most powerful heroes in the MCU, and play an important role in the franchise moving forward.

Why Hulk’s Son Has That Specific Haircut In The MCU

Skaar, Hulk’s son, debuted in MCU’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+, with an unusual haircut that can be explained by looking at Marvel Comics.

I’m baffled that Skaar was introduced in such an underwhelming way in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but I’m hopeful that the character will be done justice in the franchise. Skaar has such interesting powers, and a great connection to his alien homeworld that would feel fresh and interesting in the MCU. Wherever the Young Avengers assemble in the franchise, it feels important that Skaar be a part of their ranks and that he play a larger role in the MCU franchise moving into the future.
