Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Incredible Hulk #24! Thor and the Hulk are about to fight yet again in Marvel Comics, as teased in the latest issue of The Incredible Hulk. This is far from the first time these two titans have been at each other’s throats, but this upcoming battle will still be unique, as it breaks the biggest rule of the heroes’ long-standing rivalry.
In The Incredible Hulk #24 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Kev Walker, Bruce Banner and his sidekick, Charlie Tidwell, are on the run from Skinwalkers after Charlie bonded with the Mother of Skinwalkers, Lycana. They went to Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum for help, but that ended up being a trap set by the Skinwalkers. After leaving the Sanctum, Charlie and Hulk are greeted by Thor, who was there for one reason: to kill Charlie.
Again, Charlie Tidwell has been possessed by Lycana, which means she transforms into a winged werewolf-type creature whenever Lycana takes control. Thor knows Lycana, as she is an ancient monster the God of Thunder has faced before. Until now, Lycana has kept a low profile. However, now that she’s resurfaced thanks to Charlie, Thor is able to find her with the sole intention of killing Lycana once and for all.
Thor is the Villain in This ‘Hulk vs Thor’ Battle
Hulk is Usually the ‘Villain’ in His Battles with Thor
While, on the surface, it may seem like Thor is in the right in this situation, nothing could be further from the truth. Sure, killing Lycana would be a ‘net good’ for the world at large, but Thor has to kill an innocent girl too, which is decidedly villainous. Meanwhile, the Hulk is trying to help Charlie either control her Skinwalker powers or find a way to get rid of Lycana without hurting Charlie. That is easily the more heroic option. However, Thor isn’t interested in that at all, meaning he is certainly in the wrong in this case.
Usually in Marvel Comics, Hulk is the one who is the ‘villain’ in their battles. For example, The Defenders #10 presents a situation where Thor tries to reason with Hulk when the Avengers find themselves in conflict with the Defenders, but the Hulk jumps straight to violence, putting him in the wrong. Then, in The Incredible Hulk #300, Banner’s mind is corrupted by Nightmare, making the Hulk go into a violent frenzy that Thor has to heroically stop. There are plenty more examples like these, but the point is that Hulk is normally the ‘villain’ in these situations. But not in this case.
Thor’s ‘Villainous’ Actions Might Be His Ultimate Downfall
Thor is in the Wrong Going Into this Fight with the Hulk, and It May Be His Undoing
Thor is easily in the wrong during his latest conflict with the Hulk, which not only breaks the biggest rule of their rivalry (that being Hulk is always the ‘villain’), but also could result in Thor’s ultimate death. Thor isn’t just about to fight one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe by going up against the Hulk, but he’ll also have to tangle with his true target, Lycana. Lycana is insanely powerful and utterly ferocious, and if she’s fighting alongside the Hulk, there’s no guarantee that Thor will make it out of this one alive.

Marvel Officially Confirms Hulk’s Most Extreme Superpower Is Back to Stay
Hulk has a number of incredible powers, and his most extreme one was believed to have been lost forever, but now Marvel just brought it back for good.
It would be an example of immediate karma if Thor was killed during a fight that he started with Hulk and Lycana, as he’s definitely in the wrong here. Sure, Lycana is evil, but so is killing a child for the ‘greater good’, and Thor might pay the ultimate price for such villainous actions. So, while Marvel’s latest Hulk vs Thor battle will assuredly be epic, it actually breaks the biggest rule of the heroes’ rivalry.
