Shippers of Karen Page and Matt Murdock were disappointed to learn that Daredevil: Born Again gives Matt a new love interest. Played by Margarita Levieva, Dr. Heather Glenn quickly takes on a major role in the lives of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. However, while named after a character from the Daredevil comics, this Heather Glenn is a drastically different character.

The original Heather Glenn first appeared in 1975’s Daredevil #126. Created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist William Robert Brown, Heather was a socialite and heir to the Glenn Industries fortune. She met Matt while he was investigating a former boyfriend’s apartment. Charmed by the dashing young lawyer, Heather began pursuing Matt. She eventually found employment as an executive assistant at Nelson and Murdock.
Matt was slow to admit he had fallen for Heather as well, but their relationship was one of ups and downs. As in Daredevil: Born Again, Matt was fearful of letting any woman get too close. Things were further complicated when Daredevil proved Heather’s father was a criminal. While Matt later determined the Purple Man had mind-controlled him, the damage was already done.

Later, Heather Glenn discovered that the man she loved was also the vigilante she hated. Despite this, the two did try to make their relationship work. However, Foggy Nelson and Black Widow concluded that Matt and Heather reinforced one another’s worst traits and their love had become toxic.
Together, they forged “Dear John” letters to break the two apart. The plan worked, but Heather fell into a deep depression and alcoholism, before ending her life. Matt discovered her body after yet another argument in 1985’s Daredevil #220.

The Heather Glenn introduced in Daredevil: Born Again is a more proactive and stable figure . A therapist by trade, with a book published, Heather was set up on a date by Matt’s new law partner. She had told Matt her friend needed a lawyer and told Heather her partner needed a therapist. While both were annoyed at the deception, Matt and Heather still hit it off almost immediately.
However, Heather Glenn was also revealed to have a connection to Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again. The second episode found Wilson Fisk and his wife, Vanessa, seeing Heather for couples’ counseling. It seems highly likely that the Kingpin will be less than thrilled should he discover he is airing his dirty laundry to Matt Murdock’s new girlfriend.
Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 1 & 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
