Gwyneth Paltrow recently addressed her potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shared updates on her relationship with former co-star Robert Downey Jr. During a Q&A session with fans, she responded to speculation about reprising her role as Pepper Potts and clarified how often she stays in touch with Downey. Her remarks offer insight into Marvel’s secrecy and ongoing developments within the franchise.

Gwyneth Paltrow responded to fan questions on Instagram, including whether she would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Pepper Potts. “The truth is, I don’t totally know,” she said. “I think I might, but I’m not sure. Nothing is confirmed. That is the truth. That’s the inside scoop.”

Paltrow last portrayed Pepper Potts in Avengers: Endgame (2019), having previously appeared in Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

In a separate interview with Vanity Fair, she commented on a possible return, saying, “I may… we’ll see. I don’t know, they keep it all very top-secret.” She noted that she wasn’t aware she appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming due to Marvel’s secrecy. Paltrow has acknowledged that she hasn’t kept up with MCU projects and said she was not in Captain America: Brave New World.

Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark, is set to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. The character of Pepper Potts remains alive in the MCU, allowing potential for her reappearance in future projects.

A fan asked Gwyneth Paltrow in Spanish whether she still speaks to Robert Downey Jr. every day. She responded, “Not every day, but we talk a lot. And you know what? He’s going to turn 60 years old on April 4. I’m most probably going to call him that day.”

Paltrow and Downey Jr. worked together in multiple Marvel films. Their on-screen dynamic as Tony Stark and Pepper Potts spanned over a decade, beginning with Iron Man in 2008. Downey’s upcoming MCU role as Doctor Doom may bring new connections to Paltrow’s character, though no involvement has been confirmed.
