Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Predator vs Black Panther #4 & Aliens vs Avengers #2! Both Alien’s Xenomorphs and Predator’s Yautja have invaded Marvel, and they’re quickly proving to Marvel’s greatest heroes just how deadly they are within their respective crossover stories. But no matter how many superheroes these Sci-Fi monsters slaughter, the Xenomorphs and the Predators are still each other’s ultimate cosmic rivals. And now, the stage is set for Alien vs Predator to make the Marvel Universe its new bloody battleground.
In Predator vs Black Panther #4 by Benjamin Percy, Chris Allen, Sean Damien Hill, and Lee Ferguson, readers are given the epic conclusion to this four-part crossover miniseries. The story begins with a cybernetic Predator who’s less physically capable than his brother. Both of them are in line to inherit the title of King Predator from their father, and it is obvious which of them will get it. So, in order to take the crown for himself, this Predator travels to Earth to claim the one thing that would make him and his clan unbeatable: godmetal aka vibranium.
Black Panther defends his vibranium and his kingdom from the Predator invasion, but that doesn’t stop the Yautja from loading mountains of vibranium onto their ship and taking off into space. However, Shuri plants a Predator wrist-nuke on the outside of the ship before it breaches the atmosphere, and once it is in space, the entire spaceship explodes. The godmetal the Predators collected is left floating in space near Earth.
The would-be-usurper Predator fails, and dies before he can use the vibranium to take his father’s kingdom. But, his loss is the King’s gain, as the Predator King quickly swoops in and takes all the vibranium for himself. Now, the Yautja species has enough godmetal to craft weapons, ships, and other assets of war from pure vibranium, making the Predators far deadlier than they’ve ever been before.
Marvel Shows Predators at the Height of Their Power, Just Like Alien’s Xenomorphs
The Xenomorphs Just Conquered Planet Earth in Aliens vs Avengers
While Black Panther defeated the clan of Predators that invaded Wakanda, the ending of Predator vs Black Panther makes it clear that the Yautja were the real victors in the end. The Predators are now at the height of their power, as they now have all the vibranium they could ever want. Interestingly, the same is true for Alien’s Xenomorphs over in their Marvel crossover miniseries: Aliens vs Avengers.
In Aliens vs Avengers by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, the synthetic David (and two duplicates) travel through the multiverse from the Alien Universe to the Marvel Universe, and they do so with countless hordes of Xenomorphs. The book explains that David didn’t stop eradicating planets with the Black Goo after the events of Alien: Covenant, and he quickly perfected bioengineering science with the Black Goo to breed as many Xenomorphs as he could ever want – enough to extinguish all organic life in the Alien Universe.
Prometheus’ David Just Became The Greatest Threat To Marvel’s Multiverse AND The Alien Franchise (All In One Stunning Moment)
Alien’s David debuted in Prometheus, & since then, he’s become a multiversal threat on the precipice of destroying every universe, including Marvel’s.
So, David and his duplicates travel to the Marvel Universe after discovering multiversal travel, as they intend to use the Xenomorphs to eradicate all organic life in every universe. That’s what pitted the Avengers against the Xenomorphs, and in Aliens vs Avengers #2, it’s revealed that the Xenomorphs won. What was left of the Avengers left Earth in defeat, losing the planet to the overwhelming Xenomorph horde. Perhaps the Avengers will find another planet to call their own. Perhaps not. All fans know is that Earth now belongs to billions of Xenomorphs, and the entire Marvel Universe isn’t far behind.
How Marvel Comics Just Set Up the Perfect Alien vs Predator Story
Vibranium-Powered Predators vs Avengers-Killing Xenomorphs is a Story that Needs to be Told
As it stands, the Predators have gotten an unprecedented upgrade with their new stockpile of vibranium, and the Xenomorphs have killed every Avengers hero, and the ones they didn’t kill they literally scared off the planet. While these two circumstances are happening in separate comic series, there’s no reason to assume they’re not happening in the same continuity. Perhaps the events of Predator vs Black Panther took place in Aliens vs Avengers’ past, and while the Xenomorphs have taken over the Earth, the Predators were waiting with their vibranium arsenal, choosing the perfect time to strike.
There would be no truer test of the Predators’ new vibranium-powered weapons than taking on an entire planet of Xenomorphs.
It’s been well-established in Alien vs Predator lore that Predators have a certain reverence for the Xenomorph species. Indeed, the Xenomorph is integral to the Yautja’s ceremonial rite of passage called the Blooding Ritual, which dictates that a juvenile Predator (or group of Predators) must hunt and kill Xenomorphs and mark themselves with the symbol of their clan with the creature’s acid blood. That’s how a Predator becomes a true hunter, and is given the autonomy to travel to different worlds and hunt increasingly dangerous prey (like what is shown in the solo Predator films).
There would be no truer test of the Predators’ new vibranium-powered weapons than taking on an entire planet of Xenomorphs. Under normal circumstances, it’s fair to assume that the Xenomorphs would easily overtake the Predators (there are billions of them, after all). However, after integrating vibranium into all their tech and weaponry over the course of a few decades, the Predators might actually be able to beat the billions of Xenomorphs. Either way, it’s a story that needs to be told, and Marvel has already set the stage for it perfectly.
The Avengers Have Become the LEAST Interesting Part of Their Alien/Predator Crossovers
Marvel Set Up the Perfect Alien vs Predator Story, & It Doesn’t Include the Avengers
What’s funny about how perfectly Marvel Comics set up the ultimate Alien vs Predator story is how the publisher unwittingly made the Avengers (and the rest of the heroes) the least interesting part of their own Alien/Predator crossovers. It’s as if the Xenomorphs and the Predators have to merely pass through Marvel’s characters before they can find their way back to each other, and subsequently become each other’s ultimate enemy. They are cosmic rivals, after all, so it makes sense, but it’s still hilarious to consider that the Avengers have effectively been upstaged in their own universe.
Alien Finally Reveals the Ancient History of the Xenomorph – Theory Explained
The Xenomorph has been a mystery in Alien lore since its introduction in 1979, but now, the creature’s ancient history might have just been revealed.
While the stage is set and the set up is perfect, there’s no guarantee that Marvel Comics will combine the stories of Aliens vs Avengers and Predator vs Black Panther to create this ultimate Alien vs Predator story. But, if the publisher decides to, it’s something that would assuredly blow the minds of Alien vs Predator fans everywhere, as both of these deadly alien species just turned Marvel into their perfect, bloody battleground.
