Annually held on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is a major event for comic fans around the world. Publishers use the day to premiere new titles and promote upcoming events. Local comic shops and libraries use it to encourage literacy and lure in new readers. To aid in this, SuperHeroHype has assembled a summary of titles being released as part of FCBD 2025.

DC is promoting the Man of Steel and their Summer of Superman initiative for Free Comic Book Day 2025. Their chief offering is a flip-book, DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1. This book will preview the new Superman Unlimited series and the Absolute Universe line. It is rated T for readers 13 and up.
DC Comics’ other FCBD 2025 offerings include the following.
Superman’s Good Guy Gang 2025 FCBD Special Edition – this All-Ages comedy finds Superman, Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl struggling to get along as they form a club to do superhero things together.
Kanga U: Tests and Tournaments – Aimed at readers 8-12, this All-Ages series centers upon the Amazons of Themyscira and the giant kangaroos they ride into battle.

Marvel Comics is doubling-up its offerings for Free Comic Book Day 2025. All five of its give-away books contain at least two stories each. The biggest of these is Fantastic Four/X-Men #1, which acts as an introduction to both teams for those who know the MCU but not Marvel’s First Family or Merry Mutants. It is rated T+ for readers 13 and up.
Marvel has also produced the following FCBD 2025 titles.
Ironheart / Marvel Voices #1 – A new Ironheart adventure from best-selling author Justina Ireland, plus several stories from Marvel’s spotlight line for diverse heroes and creators. Rated T+ for Readers 13 and up.
Iron Man & Friends / Spidey & Friends #1 – Based on the hit Disney Junior shows, this comic also contains activity pages staring Spidey, Iron Man, and their friends. For All Ages.
Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1 – A reintroduction to Peter Parker and Amazing Spider-Man as well as the new Ultimate Universe. Rated T+ for Readers 13 and up.
Star Wars #1 – A sample of Marvel Comics’ Star Wars line. Rated T+ for Readers 13 and up.

The Gold Tier of Free Comic Book Day offerings are 12 titles chosen by the FCBD Selection Committee. These books are the ones determined to offer the broadest sample the variety comics have to offer. They are also considered the best books for new readers.
Archie’s Comic Spectacular – A sampling of series featuring the teens of Riverdale High School and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. For All Ages.
Conan: Scourge of the Serpent – The kick-off for this year’s Conan the Barbarian event. (MATURE)
Dr. Seuss Sampler – Previewing new graphic novels inspired by the books of Dr. Seuss. For All Ages.
Energon Universe Special – Three stories featuring G.I. Joe, Transformers and Void Rivals. Rated T for Teens.
Fantastic Four/X-Men #1
I Hate Fairyland Special – Celebrating 10 years of Image Comics’ twisted fairy tale satire. (MATURE)
