Marvel Studios has finally revealed a first look at Tim Blake Nelson’s long-awaited return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. New promotional artwork for Captain America: Brave New World has come online, offering fans their best look yet at Nelson’s The Leader.

Shared on the social media platform X by @kepleravocado, the Brave New World promotional artwork teases a comics-accurate The Leader, complete with an enlarged cranium and green skin. Two of the art pieces feature The Leader with the Red Hulk, the alter ego of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will be played by Harrison Ford. Both characters made their MCU debuts in the Phase 1 movie The Incredible Hulk (2008). With plot details still largely under wraps for the fourth Captain America movie, it remains to be seen whether The Leader and Red Hulk are working together in Brave New World (like the artwork sort of suggests) or if the art has simply put together two of the movie’s villains. Check out the promo art below.

Captain America 4 Gets a Popcorn Bucket Based on a Controversial New Addition to the MCU

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World joins the popcorn bucket war.

Brave New World marks Anthony Mackie’s first time leading a Captain America movie as the Star-Spangled Man, following his character, Sam Wilson, taking over the mantle in the Disney+ limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The upcoming movie serves as a sequel to both The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and The Incredible Hulk, resolving the dangling storyline featuring The Leader from the latter. Besides Nelson, Brave New World will also feature the long-awaited MCU return of Liv Tyler as “Thunderbolt” Ross’ daughter Betty Ross, who has not been seen since the 2008 movie.

Back in March 2024, Nelson opened up about returning to the MCU as The Leader, after The Incredible Hulk hinted at his character Samuel Sterns’ transformation into the villain, revealing that he “had a great time filming it. The actor also shared that he was directly involved with The Leader’s look in the movie, explaining that he “worked with the Marvel team and this wonderful makeup artist named David Atherton” to put together The Leader’s practical look. “I think people are going to be pretty excited about what this guy looks like. And what he has to say and what he does. All power to the amazing team over there at Marvel,” he added.

Directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay he co-wrote with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
