The following contains major spoilers for Fantastic Four #25, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
The Fantastic Four are breaking the rules of the Multiverse by adding a whole new layer.
Fantastic Four #25 sees the eponymous heroes’ latest investigation into Doctor Doom’s efforts in Latveria end in utter disaster, with Marvel’s First Family being hurtled across space to a distant alien world for their troubles. At least, that is how things appear at first, though Reed Richards soon realizes that the team has instead been displaced to a reality in which Earth evolved under completely different circumstances. As such, the only hope of returning home is resetting reality and erasing billions of innocent aliens from existence. Or rather, that would be true if Reed hadn’t discovered how to single-handedly make additions to the Multiverse, even if it means risking another incursion at some point in the future.

Marvel’s First Family have been among pop culture’s most iconic heroes since their debut in 1961’s Fantastic Four #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. After being exposed to cosmic rays during a mission, Reed Richards, Johnny and Susan Storm, and Ben Grimm transformed into the team of heroes fans know and love. Over the years, the Fantastic Four have gone through a myriad of changes, and even a series of overhauls of their entire roster, yet the core members of the team have consistently maintained their status within the Marvel Universe and across nearly every iteration of their story.
Recently, the Fantastic Four have been left reeling from their longtime nemesis Doctor Doom’s ascension to the role of Sorcerer Supreme. This was due to Marvel’s Blood Hunt storyline, which saw the world overrun by vampires after the skies were blacked out all across the globe. While Reed Richards was one of several heroes working tirelessly to set things right, it was ultimately Doctor Doom who drove back the darkness and quelled the vampire threat as it stood, all by convincing Doctor Strange to relinquish his title as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Spider-Man’s most dangerous street-level enemy is about to cross a line that could easily ignite another Gang War.
Fans of Marvel’s First Family are currently looking forward to their upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the form of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Director Matt Shakman previously explained that the upcoming live-action feature film is set to drop audiences into a “kind of retro-future ’60s” and heavily focus on the space race of the decade and “voyaging out there.” The film will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka the Thing, Julie Garner as Shalla-Bal aka the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as the Devourer of Worlds himself – Galactus.
