The debut issue of Marvel Comics’ brand-new Red Band Daredevil title hit comic book shelves this week, spotlighting Elektra Natchios’ Woman Without Fear in her bloodiest adventure yet. CBR can now share an exclusive preview of Erica Schultz, Valentina Pinti, and Jose Luis’ Daredevil: Unleash Hell – Red Band #2.

Marvel’s second issue preview opens with Daredevil brutally dispatching a couple of knife-wielding assailants before panning to a rooftop, where Elektra confers with fellow Daredevil Matt Murdock. Meanwhile, the returning villain Muse is hard at work crafting a blood-soaked masterpiece. The publisher’s Daredevil: Unleash Hell #2 description reads, “Something bloody is at work in Hell’s Kitchen! Watchful as ever as DAREDEVIL, but at odds with her crimefighting partner, Matt Murdock, Elektra Natchios is alone on the trail of a serial killer whose work has a hauntingly familiar style! As grisly and grim tableaus begin appearing throughout the city, the lines between life and death or reality and illusion are about to blur!”

In Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s Daredevil run, Matt Murdock was sentenced to prison, leading him to strike a deal with Elektra, who becomes Daredevil of Hell’s Kitchen. She continued in the role even after Matt’s return and in Schultz and Pinti’s Red Band miniseries, will now face her biggest challenge. Daredevil: Unleash Hell follows other recent MarvelRed Band titles, including Blood Hunt, Werewolf by Night, and Wolverine: Revenge, all available in a polybagged, ultra-violent format complete with a parental advisory label.

Series writer Shultz recently discussed Elektra’s characterization in Daredevil: Unleash Hell. “It’s been such a pleasure to continue writing Elektra, especially donning the horns. In this new series, we have the opportunity to show that just because she doesn’t kill doesn’t mean she won’t make you wish she had,” she said. “Elektra has been known for her brutality, and we’ll see that on display here. Also, with a Red Band rating, that means we can get real nasty with stuff. Don’t know what I mean? You will. Valentina Pinti and I are very excited to show you this new direction.”
