There was plenty of comic book news spinning out of San Diego Comic-Con, but among the biggest announcements was the reveal that Marvel Studios Founding Chairman David Maisel is spearheading a new shared universe called Ekos. Launched in conjunction with Aspen Comics and inspired by the work of the late Michael Turner and former DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, Ekos aims to be the next big shared universe in comics.

To get a better idea of what this universe holds in store, IGN can exclusively debut a new teaser trailer for Ekos. Check it out in the video player above or embedded below:

Ekos will make its debut in the form of a graphic novel called Ekos Vol. 1. The book will introduce a hero called Grell, while also setting the stage for a potential cast of hundreds. The creative team on Ekos Vol. 1 includes artist Alex Konat, colorist Peter Steigerwald, writer J.T. Krul, inker Mark Roslan, and letterer Josh Reed. The book features cover art by Joe Quesada, Alex Ross, David Mack, J Scott Campbell, and more.

“The excitement around Ekos we saw this past week reminds me of the buzz that exploded when we brought Iron Man to San Diego Comic-Con in 2007, a year before the movie’s release,” said Maisel in a statement.

We’ve put together an incredible dream team and we cannot wait to show you the world of Ekos,” said Frank Mastromauro and Peter Steigerwald, Co-Presidents of Aspen Comics.
