Summary

Avengers: Secret Wars may feature Marvel’s most expansive cast yet, with heroes from both the MCU and other live-action projects outside the MCU making appearances. An exciting fan poster imagines an expansive cast for the movie, including characters like Doctor Doom, multiple versions of Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more. Avengers: Secret Wars’ ending could lead to a soft reboot of the MCU, allowing the original Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men to coexist in the same universe. This could mark a new chapter for the MCU and set the stage for future storylines.

An exciting Avengers: Secret Wars fan poster cracks open the multiverse, bringing in several heroes from Marvel’s live-action history to stop Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Projects like Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have begun the preparation for Avengers: Secret Wars‘ story. The Multiverse Saga’s finale is rumored to feature the most expansive cast yet for an MCU film, with many heroes from across Marvel’s live-action projects outside the MCU possibly appearing in the film.

On Instagram, digital artist @marvels.wolverine imagined what Avengers: Secret Wars‘ expansive cast might look like.

The artist traded in Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror — who is the most likely villain for the movie — in favor of casting Cillian Murphy as Doctor Doom, likely due to Victor’s important role in the movie’s source material. Several MCU heroes — such as Doctor Strange, both versions of Captain America, Iron Man, Daredevil, and others — join multiverse heroes like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and more to fight Doom in the upcoming MCU movie.

The MCU’s Avengers movies have grown in team size and scope with every new installment. Avengers: Endgame‘s massive final battle saw all the MCU heroes that were still alive join forces to take down Thanos and his army, ending the MCU’s Infinity Saga in grand style. After 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty sets up a new iteration of the team in the MCU, Avengers Secret Wars has to repeat Avengers: Endgame‘s feat for the Multiverse Saga’s finale.

The MCU’s Multiverse Saga has seen new heroes — John Krasinski’s Reed Richards and Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3 — and multiple iterations of existing MCU characters appear. The list also includes the returns of beloved actors like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as their versions of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as villains from their movies. It stands to reason that Marvel Studios would like to go all-out for the Multiverse Saga’s finale, and that includes Avengers: Secret Wars having the MCU’s most expansive cast ever.

Avengers: Secret Wars’ ending could lead to a soft reboot of the MCU, allowing Marvel Studios to have the original Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men active in the MCU at the same time. With Avengers: Secret Wars‘ story likely seeing the MCU’s heroes try to save their universe from an incursion with another universe — like the 2015 Marvel Comics event — the MCU heroes could have the help of other multiverse heroes from Marvel’s past. That way, Avengers: Secret Wars can close the chapter on not only the Multiverse Saga but the entire MCU so far, as well as Marvel’s live-action past, making way for an all-new, all-different MCU.
