The Weapon X-Traction backup stories will come at no increase to their issues pricing, offering fans a free look at Deadpool and Wolverine in action. The story will see the two go on an epic journey across the Multiverse, encountering zombies and other nefarious villains while also having to deal with each other’s antics. Marvel describes Weapon X-Traction as “violent, crass and chaotic” while noting it is a good introduction for new fans looking to learn more about Wolverine and Deadpool’s comics together.

Weapon X-Traction Creators Talk Finding the Perfect Balance of Comedy and Action

Speaking in Marvel’s press release for the new cover art, writer Ryan North talked about working on the story and working with Javier Garron. “[He] is an insanely talented artist, and he is absolutely nailing the fine balance between comedy, violence, and big important feelings that characterize Deadpool,” he said. “Taking him and Wolverine across the Multiverse as they try to save everything — and not murder each other at the same time — has been a delight.”

North went on to talk about how the story will be delivered across Marvel’s eight different issues. “The fact that this story will be appearing across tons of different Marvel comics in 5-page chunks has been a fun challenge too: I love me a formalist comic, and this is like a series of short films that also add up to a feature. I really think it’s something special!”
