Buck Cashman, portrayed by Arty Froushan, features prominently in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7, titled “Art for Art’s Sake.” Now, the viewers want to know who he is in the show and Marvel Comics.
The Disney+ series serves as a revival and continuation of Daredevil, which aired on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. The new show heavily focuses on the dichotomy and similarities between Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk / Kingpin. Buck is part of Fisk’s inner circle and plays an important role in the developing narrative,
Buck is one of Fisk’s closest associates in Daredevil: Born Again, in the same way that Toby Leonard Moore’s James Wesley used to be in the inaugural season of the Netflix series. In Episode 7, he seems to be a voice of reason when Fisk becomes furious after learning that Daredevil has become active again. He even says that Daredevil’s return might be a good thing as the vigilante has set sight on the serial killer Muse.
Fisk hints in this episode that he brought Buck along with him from the criminal underbelly of New York City when he became mayor. As Buck recalls, Fisk previously told him that he hired him for his ability to think “asymmetrically.” Toward the end of the episode, we get a glimpse of what exactly that could mean when Buck executes Luca when the latter tries to shoot Fisk.
In Marvel Comics, Buck has an alias, Bullet. He is a covert agent working for the US government and often does mercenary work wearing a mask. It’s possible that the version of the character that appears in Daredevil: Born Again also has a military background, though that is yet to be established in the show. Bullet is part of Daredevil’s rogue gallery in the comics. However, while he has worked for Kingpin, he is not as closely associated with Fisk as he is in the show.
