A Daredevil: Born Again set video seemingly confirms that the villain Muse will be making an appearance in the upcoming Disney+ series.
The terrifying villain was first teased in recently released behind-the-scenes set photos from Born Again, which revealed Muse’s name on a wall of graffiti. The new footage making the rounds online shows a hidden character spray-painting graffiti of Kingpin on the wall, seemingly confirming that Muse will be appearing in the series, given the character’s history in the comic books. Muse’s storyline in the comics features the villain who is a graffiti artist and serial killer, sadistically using the blood of his victims to complete his “artwork.”
Daredevil: Born Again Set Photos Confirm Returns of Fan Favorites From Original Series
Daredevil: Born Again set photos tease a familiar location along with the returns of fan favorites from the original series.
The behind-the-scenes photos, which previously teased the character, revealed a corner of the New York City set for Daredevil: Born Again, with a painted mural of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) standing out. The mural captures Kingpin’s dual persona, showcasing two halves: one face in a white suit and the other in a black suit. Boldly signed at the bottom corner is the artist’s name: Muse.
The character’s addition to the MCU would be a bold move considering the grotesque nature of how Muse was presented in the comics, but the MCU may be willing to incorporate darker and edgier characters from Phase 5 onward, with Echo being the first mature-rated MCU property and the upcoming Deadpool 3, which is rated R. Muse’s addition may be part of the creative revamp of Daredevil: Born Again after the original concept of the show failed to impress MCU executives. The latest additions to the creative reboot have seen the return of many significant and darker elements from Netflix’s original Daredevil TV series, such as Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher and Wilson Bethel returning to his portrayal of the villain Benjamin Poindexter.
How the MCU is Headed for a Kingpin vs Daredevil Street War
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is building up to a major crossover between its street-level heroes and the Kingpin of Crime. What would this look like?
Another possibility is Muse’s appearance simply being a cameo/nod to the fans of the Daredevil comics, yet Marvel’s use of the Mayor Fisk storyline seems to point away from that. Muse debuted in the 2016 Daredevil story-line “Dark Art.” Daredevil confronts Muse after he targets Blindspot, a fellow vigilante. Muse’s atrocities include a warehouse mural made from the blood of over 100 victims and the grotesque posing of six Inhuman bodies. Matt Murdock, acting as an assistant district attorney, Daredevil, and Blindspot form a coalition to stop Muse before he strikes again, potentially targeting high-profile figures or fellow vigilantes. In the comics, Muse remains behind bars until he’s provoked by a game-changing political milestone: the election of “Mayor” Wilson Fisk.
