Iconic comic book creator and Valiant Comics co-founder Bob Layton has revealed that tech giant Meta recently banned him from Facebook and Instagram, claiming a lack of account integrity. Layton sought to remedy the situation to no avail, declaring the impasse “one of the worst things” he has ever experienced in his multi-decade career.

Regarding his availability on Facebook, Layton’s official website currently reads, “Bob Layton’s Facebook account is down. He is working on getting it restored. If you need to reach him, you may do so using the form on the Contact page, or you can follow him on his new Instagram account.” Layton explained his predicament to CBR, “On November 22nd, as I was doing my usual daily postings, I was summarily, and without warning, suspended from Facebook and Instagram, with Meta claiming a lack of account integrity,” he stated. Layton sent documentation Meta had requested, including his passport and current driver’s license, but still received notice of his permanent suspension twenty-four hours later.

Doctor Strange to Become the Sorcerer Supreme…of Asgard?!

Now that Doctor Doom has taken over as the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, Doctor Strange is forced to become the Sorcerer Supreme…of Asgard?!

“No appeal was possible. No customer service numbers were available. I was blacklisted without any further information concerning their decision,” the Marvel and DC comic creator continued, “Every attempt to download their information concerning that suspension was fruitless, as it would send me to a page that said I was ineligible to download. I am broken and defeated by this arbitrary and disastrous decision by Meta. I have been using Facebook and Instagram for nearly 20 years and have amassed close to 40 thousand followers combined. As you know, I have ALWAYS adhered to the strictest legal and moral standards when posting comic art entertainment to my followers on both platforms.”

The legendary Iron Man artist stated that Meta’s actions had negatively impacted his earning ability and integrity. “Meta’s decision to permanently disable those accounts has greatly impacted my ability to make a living, not to mention the humiliation and loss of public confidence in me. Twenty years of photos and memories are lost to me…forever. This has been one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced in my career. To my fans, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

Layton’s admirable career has seen him work for both major publishers, DC and Marvel, on titles such as Iron Man, Hercules, and All Star Comics before famously establishing Valiant Comics alongside fellow legend Jim Shooter. The artist, writer, and editor eventually returned to the big two in the early 2000s and has since remained active in comics.

Layton launched Future Comics in 2000 with Dick Giordano, Allen Berrebbi, and David Michelinie. With the venture, he was one of the first people in the industry who intended to revolutionize comics distribution by creating a direct market system, bypassing distributors, and selling directly to customers.
