Marvel Studios has released the best look yet at Sam Wilson’s new Captain America suit, which will debut in the Phase 5 movie, Captain America: Brave New World.
Empire shared the new image of Anthony Mackie suited up as Sam Wilson/Captain alongside its interview with Brave New World director Julius Onah. Ditching the comics-accurate look from the series finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam’s new Captain America threads are closer in color to the suits worn by Chris Evans‘ Steve Rogers.

Captain America: Brave New World will mark Mackie’s first time leading a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie as Captain America after assuming the mantle in the series finale of the 2021 Disney+ limited series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was released on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 30, 2024.
Unlike the previous two Captain Americas in the MCU — Steve Rogers and John Walker — Sam Wilson is not a Super Soldier. According to Onah, this makes the upcoming Captain America sequel all the more exciting to watch since “this is a guy who can break, this is a guy who can bleed.” The director added, “We get to have a lot of fun pushing him to the limit.”
While Mackie’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-stars Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) and Daniel Brühl (Helmut Zemo) will not be returning for Brave New World, Danny Ramirez, who debuted in the Disney+ series as Joaquín Torres, will be back, assuming the mantle of the Falcon from Sam Wilson.
The movie’s ensemble cast also includes Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Shira Haas as Ruth/Sabra. Xosha Roquemore, Seth Rollins, and Rosa Salazar will also appear, although their roles remain undisclosed at this time.
Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters on February 14, 2025.
