Black Widow just received a badass redesign that serves as the ideal blueprint for future live action appearances. The MCU’s version of Black Widow has introduced many new fans to her, but her costumes weren’t always as good as they could have been. Now, Natasha has debuted a stunning new suit that would look incredible on the big screen, so the MCU needs to take notes.
A newly unveiled cover for Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #5 by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Tommaso Bianchi debuts Black Widow’s revamped costume, as illustrated by variant artist Ivan Talavera. Natasha Romanoff looks battle-ready as she stands with two guns in hand, donning a black latex costume with sleek red accents.
Although Black Widow has worn many different costumes over the years, this one makes an impact because it’s a true uniform rather than a plain bodysuit. It feels unique to her as a hero, giving Natasha the edge she needs to stand out among Marvel’s other iconic figures.

Black Widow’s New Look Solidifies Her As An Iconic Marvel Hero
This new Black Widow costume draws from many of her past looks, with the most notable inspiration being her stealth suit from Kelly Thompson and Elena Casagrande’s Black Widow. It features the same bright red stripe, as well as a variation of her usual belt. One of the more intriguing additions, though, is the red hourglass symbol on her chest. Black Widow sporting her logo grants her costume the same overall feel as a standard superhero suit, such as Captain Marvel, which boasts a symbol that’s become synonymous with her. Natasha has used her logo in the comics, but her movie costumes failed to prominently feature it.

Natasha Romanoff’s creepy new symbiote look leans into her venomous spider theme more than ever, solidifying her place as Marvel’s deadliest hero.
In the Marvel Universe, and in the vast majority of superhero stories, characters tend to wear uniforms that make them recognizable to audiences. From Spider-Man to the Fantastic Four, heroes in uniforms stand the test of time due to the iconography they establish. The MCU had a tendency to give Black Widow bodysuits without any special symbols or distinguishing details, causing them to be less iconic than the outfits worn by her fellow Avengers. Natasha deserves as much fame as her peers, and a costume that showcases her signature colors and logo is a step in the right direction that any future adaptations should keep in mind.
MCU, Pay Attention: Black Widow’s New Costume Deserves A Big Screen Portrayal
If Black Widow Ever Returns to Live Action, This Suit Should Be the Blueprint
Natasha’s red-and-black color scheme should be a staple of her costumes, as opposed to the solid black suits she wore for much of her screen time. This latest redesign could amend that issue by being brought to life on film. Although the MCU’s version of Black Widow was killed off in 2019’s Avengers Endgame, she later starred in a prequel film, so there’s still a possibility that she could return for other appearances prior to her untimely demise. If she does, Black Widow‘s costume should reflect her brand in a visible way and cement her as the style icon she is in the comics.
Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #5 will be available on May 21st, 2025 from Marvel Comics!
