What can we expect from “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”? Well, it’s a Marvel movie so obviously we can expect big superhero action, but what about the story? What about Marvel’s famous cameos?

Here are a few thoughts on that.
Galactus Is the Key to the Multiverse
It seems clear from the teaser for “Fantastic Four: First Steps”, that – just like for most of “Deadpool & Wolverine” – the film takes place in a separate universe from Marvel’s prime reality, aka Earth 616. The technology, while advanced, has older designs. It almost looks like we’re watching an episode of “Fallout” or “Loki”. At the same time, the Fantastic Four seem heralded as the world’s premiere super-team even though we haven’t heard of them in the MCU yet.

So, assuming the plan is to bring them into Earth 616, exactly how will that happen?
We’re not claiming we know how, but we predict the key to the whole thing will be Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.
The Multiverse Saga is concerned with incursions: events in which two universes collide, destroying both. Galactus’s origin is tied to the death of universes. In the comics, Galactus arrives in the universe of Earth 616 as the lone survivor of a dying universe.
Considering that, it’s likely Galactus has more on his mind than simply munching on the Earth. He probably knows about the incursions and this, somehow, will lead to the heroes making their way to Earth 616.
The First Steps World Is Tied to the TVA
It’s impossible to ignore the similarities in design between “Fantastic Four: First Steps” and that of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) which first appeared in “Loki”. We see things like flying cars and robot housekeepers, but the designs are housed in the same modern art deco mishmash that we see in the halls of the TVA. The TV that Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) looks in for the teaser actually has dials!
So either the MCU designers are running out of ideas, or the world of “Fantastic Four: First Steps” is tied closely to the TVA. Considering it was Jonathan Majors‘s Kang who was originally supposed to be the Big Bad of the Multiverse Saga and that in the comics he starts out as an FF bad guy, it seems even more likely there’s a strong connection between FF and the TVA.
Stan Lee Will Make A Posthumous Cameo
In spite of his death in 2018, there’s a decent chance “Fantastic Four: First Steps” will include a posthumous cameo from Stan “The Man” Lee, thanks to digital technology.
A deal was struck in 2022 giving Disney the right to use Lee’s likeness and voice from beyond the grave, just as 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” used a digital Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin.
If Lee was going to be brought into any Marvel movie posthumously, it’s this one. The 1961 publication of “Fantastic Four” #1 was what solidified the Marvel Universe and began Marvel’s dominance of the superhero genre. Lee and Jack Kirby’s “Fantastic Four” comic book run is still considered mandatory reading and includes much of the bedrock of the current Marvel Universe. Lee arguably is more important to the very DNA of the Fantastic Four than any other Marvel property.
