The extensive announcement of the Avengers: Doomsday cast had an Easter egg and nod to a superhero’s powers that many didn’t catch while initially watching the over five-hour-long livestream from Marvel. However, some did spot it and took to social media for discussions on the subject. Marvel Studios’ Greg Dunbar has since confirmed that it was a legitimate Easter egg and not a happy accident.

Marvel revealed the chairs of more than twenty Avengers: Doomsday cast members in a livestream shared on its official social media handles on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Joseph Quinn, who is all set to portray Johnny Storm / Human Torch in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, was revealed to be part of the Doomsday cast.

However, what quite a few people seemingly have missed is the sign above Johnny’s chair, reading, “Fire Perimeter: Keep Clear.” This is clearly a reference to Johnny’s powers of fire generation and manipulation.

After some fans figured the Easter egg out, Dunbar quoted one and shared the following words on X (formerly Twitter), “Someone noticed,” confirming in the process that this was indeed an Easter egg.

Despite already announcing a big list of cast for Doomsday, Marvel has teased that they were not done and that more would be added later. Human Torch has been a major part of the Fantastic Four and Marvel Comics for decades.

Previously, Chris Evans, who later played Steve Rogers / Captain America in the MCU, portrayed Human Torch in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2006 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. In 2024, Evans reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Before landing the role of Human Torch in the MCU, Quinn played Arthur Havisham in Dickensian, Koner in Game of Thrones, Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, and Geta in Gladiator II.

Avengers: Doomsday debuts in US theaters on May 1, 2026.
