Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Newton has addressed her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the young superhero Cassie Lang.

Speaking with Screen Rant, the actor recalled being part of her high school’s golf team and how she would love for Cassie Lang to have a similar, albeit more heroic, experience in the MCU. “I’d like to see her on a team,” Newton shared. “I feel like for me when I was in high school on my golf team, championship ring right here, I was obsessed with being number one. I wanted to be the team captain, and my coach was like, ‘No captain, that’s not how we do it here. We’re all equal, and be on a team and win and lose together.’ So I feel like that’s something that everyone can relate to, is having to be together on the team on the rise and be together in trenches. So, I’d like to see some more of that.”

The MCU Has Begun to Tease the Young Avengers

While Marvel Studios has not officially announced a Young Avengers project, the superhero team was recently teased at the end of The Marvels. In a scene that pays homage to Iron Man‘s post-credits scene, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel channels her inner Nick Fury and attempts to recruit Kate Bishop/Hawkeye (Hailee Steinfeld) to join the superhero team she is putting together. Although not shown, Newton’s Cassie Lang is indirectly mentioned when Kamala asks Kate if she knew that Ant-Man had a daughter.

Besides Cassie Lang, Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop, the MCU has begun introducing several young heroes who have been part of the Young Avengers in the comics, such as Billy (Julian Hillard) and Tommy Maximoff (Jett Klein) in WandaVision, Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson) in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Kid Loki (Jack Veal) in Loki, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
