Since only shortly after Marc Spector’s most recent resurrection during the events of Marvel Comics’ Blood Hunt crossover event, he has been embroiled in a battle with the budding drug lord Achilles Fairchild. Over the past few months, Fairchild has introduced a new designer drug to the streets of New York City, with his Glitter becoming all the rage to the detriment of its users. While Moon Knight and his fellow members of the Midnight Mission have dealt several blows to Fairchild’s operation, these have only emboldened the villain’s own actions against them.
The Midnight Mission was born out of Marc’s desire to build something with his mantle outside the shadow of his patron god – Khonshu. During the time when Khonshu was imprisoned beneath Asgard, Moon Knight built the Midnight Mission with the express purpose of protecting his little slice of NYC in the name of returning to his roots as a protector of those who travel at night. In just a short time, the Midnight Mission grew to include Marc’s fellow West Coast Avenger Tigra, the former villain 8-Ball, the other Fist of Khonshu known as Hunter’s Moon, the newly turned vampire known as Reese, and Soldier, a former white supremacist who has become an acolyte of Moon Knight himself.

A truly terrifying Marvel hero has just been given a whole new look, not to mention a whole new set of powers along with it.
Perhaps the strangest and least expected member of the Midnight Mission is the building itself, the living structure known as the House of Shadows. Introduced in Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s story, “The House of Shadows!” from the pages of 1964’s Strange Tales #120, the eponymous locale was reportedly haunted, although the truth was more horrifying than that. In actuality, the House of Shadows is a living entity unto itself, one fiercely dedicated to protecting itself from outsiders while observing humankind up close. Initially a menace to be stopped by Doctor Strange, the House of Shadows found something of a kindred spirit in Moon Knight when the two crossed paths, with the living building deciding to take up residence as a sentient Midnight Mission.
