The following contains major spoilers for Negasonic Teenage Warhead #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

One of the biggest breakout stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has just redefined her powers all over again.

While the titular mutant hero of Negasonic Teenage Warhead #1 is trying to enjoy an easy day off from fighting monsters or villains, her old ally Deadpool is busy bringing them right to her door. Luckily, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is more than capable of sending the threat hurtling through time and space by conjuring a portal to a relatively harmless pocket dimension. That being said, there is no telling how long she will be able to maintain that same ability, especially if she ends up trading it in for another power set from one of her potential future selves.

First seen in the pages of 2001’s New X-Men #115 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, Eloise Phimister, aka Negasonic Teenage Warhead, was one of Emma Frost’s students and a native of Genosha with powerful precognitive abilities. Eloise’s premonitions foresaw the destruction of Genosha and the millions of deaths that would come as a result of the attack on the island by Cassandra Nova’s Wild Sentinels. Tragically, Eloise was among those who lost their lives in said attack, with the young mutant hero’s death taking an exceptionally rough toll on Emma Frost.

Although Negasonic Teenage Warhead would be brought back to life for a short while by Selene, this was far from the proper comeback she deserved. It wasn’t until 2016’s Deadpool & the Mercs for Money #1 by Cullen Bunn and Iban Coello that Negasonic Teenage Warhead was brought back alive, well, and more in line with her counterpart from the first Deadpool feature film as portrayed by Brianna Hildebrand. Unlike her comic book counterpart, the Negasonic Teenage Warhead of the silver screen can create and control nuclear energy with ease, so much so that she is capable of unleashing nuclear explosions that can obliterate S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarriers.
