Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Assemble #5! It’s a known fact that the Hulk is a powerhouse few in the Marvel Universe can match, even on a cosmic level. The Hulk can break continents with the stomp of his foot, Thunderclap otherworldly gods into oblivion, and slaughter hordes of eldritch monsters without even trying. However, as strong as the Hulk is, there’s one new Marvel villain who has just proved himself to be strong enough to match him.

In Avengers: Assemble #5 by Steve Orlando and José Luís, the AVENG.E.R.S. (Avengers Emergency Response Squad) are fighting the Serpent Society, and the battle is far from as one-sided as many fans might initially assume. The Serpent Society has never really been taken seriously in the past, but in this storyline, they’re shown to be stronger than they’ve ever been before, especially when it comes to one of their members in particular: Titanoboa.

Titanoboa is an absolute behemoth, who’s not only super strong, but a brilliant fighter who studies his opponents before battling them. The Serpent Society villain shrugs off multiple blasts from Photon (who wields Captain Marvel-level power), and utterly stomps She-Hulk without hardly breaking a sweat. Of course, after She-Hulk receives a gamma-boost, she’s able to take Titanoboa down. However, Titanboa’s previous exhibitions of power is more than enough evidence to suggest that he’d be a worthy contender against the Hulk.

Hulk vs Titanoboa is a Fight Marvel Comics Fans Need to See

Titanboa’s Show of Strength in Avengers: Assemble Proves He Should Fight the Hulk

If Titanoboa is durable enough to withstand an attack from Photon like it’s nothing, and then turn around and smash She-Hulk into the pavement with ease, then he definitely has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Hulk. Sure, She-Hulk ended up beating Titanoboa, but she needed a gamma-boost to do it, and it really only worked because she took him by surprise – something Titanoboa wouldn’t allow to happen if he ever fought the Hulk.

Another thing to consider is that Titanoboa studied his opponents before fighting them. He knew exactly how to counter-attacks from the likes of Photon and She-Hulk, and he knew exactly what to expect while fighting them. That’s why She-Hulk’s upgrade did him in, not because she was necessarily stronger, but because he wasn’t expecting it. If Titanoboa applied that same level of tactical focus before and during a fight with the Hulk, it’s fair to say that he wouldn’t be surprised by anything the Jade Giant would throw at him.

The Serpent Society will be Debuting in Captain America: Brave New World

While fans definitely need to see if Titanoboa does, indeed, have what it takes to take on the Hulk in Marvel Comics, this is also the perfect time for Marvel to bring him into the MCU to fight another Hulk-strength character: Red Hulk. The Serpent Society is about to make its MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World alongside the live-action Red Hulk. It would be so cool if this issue was a tease for Titanoboa’s surprise appearance in the new Captain America movie, where he’ll get the chance to prove himself against Red Hulk on the big screen.

Don’t Make the Hulk Angry: The Marvel Hero Is About to Copy Wolverine’s Goriest Kill

Wolverine has no shortage of attacks he’s used against his enemies in Marvel Comics, and Hulk just stole his goriest one in truly gruesome fashion.

Unfortunately, it’s basically a guarantee that Titanoboa will not appear in the MCU anytime soon, and almost certainly not in Captain America: Brave New World (despite how perfect that would be). However, this super-strong member of the Serpent Society is absolutely free to fight the Hulk in Marvel Comics at any time – and that’s a fight Marvel should make happen immediately.
