As one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, Wolverine has appeared in various forms of media, snikting his way through the last 50 years and cementing himself atop the mountain of superheroes. With his razor-sharp claws, limitless healing factor and a ruggedly charismatic demeanor, fans have been captivated by Wolverine since his first appearance five decades ago, appearing in the final panel of The Incredible Hulk #180.
Among these various appearances, Wolverine has appeared in quite a few video games, with an unfortunate number of these being forgettable and not capitalizing on the rich history provided by the source material. With a deep arsenal of unique adventures, Wolverine, or Logan, has quite a few that would expand his presence in the video game medium.

Gamers could only dream of playing the violent DOOM-esque adventure that would come from adapting Wolverine: Bloodlust into a video game. With mythical creatures embarking on the wilderness of northern Canada and a bloodlusted, feral Wolverine, it is easy to imagine the scale of such a story coming to the video game world.
Perfectly demonstrating the feral creature that is Wolverine within Logan, adapting Wolverine: Bloodlust would encapsulate so many of fans’ greatest desires for a game about the character, alone and on the hunt. A horror game that utilizes Wolverine’s stealth and features another classic battle between his humanity and ferocity could potentially be epic. Touching on Wolverine’s inner turmoil is a must for any story that is transformed into a video game.

15 Most Disastrous Spider-Man Team Ups
With Spider-Man about to team up with Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we look at the web-slinger’s team ups that ended in disaster!
Taking Insomniac’s recent success with the Spider-Man brand into consideration, a video game contrasting the young, witty and lighthearted Peter Parker against the rough, realistic and much older Wolverine would be an excellent introduction to a new iteration of one of Marvel’s premiere characters alongside a (rare) peer who is more well-known.
On top of that, the beloved limited-run series Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine features a variety of explorable locations, a coterie of villains and even time-traveling and dinosaurs. With plenty of opportunity for both light humor and touching story points, a game featuring two of Marvel’s top stars would be an excellent modern addition to Wolverine’s video game appearances. This adaptation could also build on Insomniac’s universe that so many gamers have fallen in love with.

September–October 2014
Another recent story, Death of Wolverine, begins in Wolverine Vol. 5, where, due to a manufactured virus, Wolverine’s healing ability has deteriorated, and the near-immortal Logan has become vulnerable to a fate he has so long eluded. Coming to terms with such a change of pace would make for an incredibly compelling story for gamers and Marvel enthusiasts alike.
In what would be a dark action adventure where the ending is known before the start, this character-driven story would be an excellent way to bring the audience alongside a deeply emotional retrospective of Wolverine’s life as he comes to terms with his mortality and one last journey. While this story could launch a series of X-Men-related games, the story itself can exist alone, a dark adventure into the psyche of Logan as he faces his final battle.

This story follows a brainwashed Wolverine, under the control of the Hand, as he becomes someone else’s weapon (a theme present in quite a few of Wolverine’s stories). Killed, revived and reprogrammed to undergo the Hand’s bidding, readers watch Wolverine go on a bloody rampage that covers both former friends and foes.
This would be an incredible video game strictly based on the ability to play as a villainous adaptation of Logan, potentially creating some incredible “what ifs?” if any potential studio wanted to explore and expand upon the ideas within this story. Touching on Wolverine’s massive connection to Japan as well, Enemy of the State could bring a much darker version of Logan that would make for a fun video game and overall experience.

Shortly after regaining his memories and with his past now intact, Wolverine’s path in Wolverine: Logan by Brian K. Vaughan explores his past, returning to Japan (a common theme for the character) and delves into Wolverine’s journey during the events of World War II that shaped a large part of who he would later become.
Featuring many shots that could be iconic for gamers to experience in a video game, Wolverine: Logan would make a fantastic adaptation and add to the many AAA games that have ventured into Japan recently. Venturing into the past and back into the present as Wolverine begins to further understand his story would be a beautiful tale for any studio to revisit.

10 Best X-Men Stories No One Talks About
House of X and the New X-Men come up in conversation all the time, but Marvel readers should check out these X-Men comics no one talks about.
This story is not entirely a Wolverine story but one that covers Cyclops and the X-Men as a whole, too. X-Men: Schism offers a philosophical tale pitting Wolverine against Cyclops as they disagree on the future mutants, shattering the X-Men and the potential destruction of their kind.
In what would be an interesting, narrative-driven story, players could play both sides of the conflict and aftermath, aligning themselves with the side of the argument that they agree with. X-Men: Schism would be a great opportunity to explore freedom of choice. With each player’s choice directly impacting the story and even the potential team that their version of the X-Men can field, any potential game would make for a fun and unique experience.

Released
November 2001-July 2002
Revealing many secrets to the mysterious Wolverine character, Origin showcases Wolverine’s earliest days. Born James Howlett, the son of a wealthy plantation owner in 19th-century Canada, Wolverine seemingly has a normal life for this time period, albeit dealing with allergies and a sickly demeanor.
This would be a harrowing game to introduce the complex character of Wolverine from before his powers had even manifested. Such an adventure would take gamers on a narrative-driven story, allowing for Wolverine’s growth to be a central aspect of the plot and gameplay through the character’s heartbreaking origin. This story also offers the chance to explore character traits not often showcased due to the gruff demeanor that fans are used to.

Weapon X is perhaps the most well-known Wolverine story, showcasing the most pivotal moment in Logan’s history as his skeleton is adorned with unsurpassed adamantium and his humanity is stripped away. Any game could draw heavily on Wolverine’s animalistic nature, pushed to the brink in order to survive chaotic obstacles that are pushing Logan past his sanity.
Although this story has been run into the ground through all of Wolverine’s media appearances, turning this story into a game that showcases his capture, torture and eventual escape would be a great story of triumph through incredible adversity, depicting some of the great loss and pain that shaped Wolverine into the complex character he is today.

Wolverine: How Japan Helped Logan Become Krakoa’s Best Defender
Wolverine has several qualities that make him Krakoa’s best defender, qualities that were introduced in his first trip to Japan.
Wolverine’s first solo run in 1982 laid much of the groundwork for the character and who he is today, popularizing him and placing him on a pedestal among the other Marvel elite, such as Spider-Man and the Hulk. Taking place in Japan, this unique atmosphere depicts Wolverine dealing with multiple external threats that pose an internal one larger than anything that the character has been faced with before.
Attempting to overcome his animalistic nature and feral side, Wolverine fights tooth and nail to take a nobler path and become a better man. This would be a perfect story to adapt to a video game because of the way the studio can showcase the most prevalent conflict within the character of Wolverine, overcoming an insurmountable obstacle.

10 Best Video Game Dystopias
Video games can present players with beautiful, vibrant worlds, but they can also showcase harrowingly memorable dystopias to explore.
What better setting for a dystopian, open-world action-adventure than the Marvel landscape present in Old Man Logan? Harboring a dark setting with some of the most cruel depictions of popular characters ever, this post-apocalyptic environment with Logan seeking redemption for a mistake he cannot run from.
Featuring a wide cast of characters that have delved into a depravity that is not often seen in mainstream Marvel media, Old Man Logan offers a mature adaptation that has the potential to be bigger than just another Marvel game but could exist as an excellent addition in the post-apocalyptic genre. Gamers would be ecstatic to have a more adult-themed Marvel experience, with such a game delving into the darkest parts of the human psyche in a similar vein to the wildly popular Fallout series.
Wolverine
Wolverine first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180, where he battled the Jade Giant to a standstill, before joining Marvel’s X-Men in 1975. Since then, the short-tempered berserker with unbreakable claws has proven himself as one of Marvel’s most popular characters. The mutant hero was also the backbone of the X-Men film franchise, which ran from 2000 to 2020, and critics consider his solo film, Logan, one of the best superhero movies ever made.
Known as an unstoppable tank who can cut through anything, Wolverine isn’t technically one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes but he’s one of the deadliest characters on their roster. Even villains like Magneto and the Juggernaut have learned to be wary of Wolverine’s claws.
