Marvel’s new Werewolf by Night has joined in the blood-soaked action of Blood Hunt. Unfortunately for him, Marvel’s vampires have stolen away the source of his powers.

Werewolf by Night: Blood Hunt #1 opens to the sight of Jake Gomez riding his motorcycle across the Arizona desert and through the gates of a rundown, dinosaur-themed amusement park. Once the sun goes down, Jake’s attempt to let the beast within him run free is interrupted by the arrival of a group of would-be Masters of the Mystic Arts. Worse still, none of them have any idea that a horde of vampiric sheriff’s officers are about to crash both of their parties.

Venom Officially Has His Own Army of Kings in Black

Marvel’s Kings in Black have finally rallied around their one true self to take on the biggest threat Venom has ever known.

Introduced in the pages of 2020’s Werewolf by Night #1 (by Taboo, Benjamin Earl, and Scot Eaton), Jake Gomez discovered early on in his teenage years that he had inherited his father’s ability to transform into a werewolf at will. Soon enough, Jake also discovered that his community was being targeted by the malevolent corporate entity known as Life Pharmaceutical. In turn, Jake turned his attention toward their efforts and unleashed his bestial other upon his newfound enemies, very nearly at the expense of otherwise innocent lives. With the help of the dimensionally displaced Red Wolf, Jake learned to maintain control over his werewolf, at least for the most part.

Jake’s career as a heroic Werewolf by Night follows in the footsteps of the original, Jack Russell, who made his comic book debut all the way back in 1972’s Marvel Spotlight #2 in the story “Night of the Full Moon — Night of Fear!” by writers Roy and Jean Thomas, Gerry Conway, and artist Mike Ploog. Plagued by a centuries-old family curse, Jack’s first transformation came on the eve of his 18th birthday, setting off a horrifying chain of events that would alter the course of his life forever. Though Jack has played the role of a hero alongside the likes of Elsa Bloodstone and the Legion of Monsters, the highlights of his career only came after years of genuinely harrowing times.
