The following contains major spoilers for Carnage #7, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Flash Thompson is finally back as Agent Anti-Venom. Unfortunately, Carnage already has plans to cut him down.
Carnage #7 opens to a raucous metal show replete with corpse paint and packed with fans. In a sudden turn, Flash Thompson crashed down through the ceiling before imploring the audience to make a hasty exit. Tragically, the show-goers only see this as another example of the band’s stellar special effects, at least up until the moment Carnage arrives to prove all of them wrong in the worst way possible.

Flash Thompson has been a part of the Marvel Universe from the moment that Peter Parker’s own story kicked off in the pages of 1962’s Amazing Fantasy #15 in Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s opening story, “Spider-Man!” Originally a childhood bully who constantly tormented Peter, Flash was little more than a footnote in Spider-Man’s early years, especially after the budding young hero found his footing. Despite his history as a bully, Flash and Peter eventually became friends when the two entered college, with the former finally letting go of his overblown ego in favor of something better.
It was during his time in the military that Flash Thompson lost his legs and returned home as a war hero, although his fight was far from over. Rather than settling down, Flash jumped at the chance to get back in action through Project Rebirth 2.0, which bonded him to the Venom symbiote and transformed him into a fully-fledged superhero in his own right. As Agent Venom, Flash fought valiantly alongside all manner of heroes, including the Guardians of the Galaxy during an unexpected stint traversing the cosmos.
Doctor Doom’s Dark Future is Being Rewritten by One of His Greatest Enemies
Doctor Doom’s darkest future is coming to fruition — and an unlikely hero swoops in to save him from it.
Not long after losing Venom, Flash returned once again bonded to the Anti-Venom symbiote, though even its power could not keep him from losing his life at the hands of the Red Goblin. Thankfully, Flash’s consciousness survived on within the Symbiote Hive, where he met Eddie Brock during the events of King in Black. In fact, it was Flash who first discovered that they could resurrect themselves from within the Hive as entirely symbiotic beings, opening the door for some of the biggest developments that Marvel’s symbiotes have ever seen.
