Summary
A potential second season of “Ms. Marvel” could feature a cameo or extended appearance by Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel may join forces with Shang-Chi in “Shang-Chi 2” to help him understand the powerful relics inherited from his father.
Following The Marvels, it’s not yet been confirmed where Captain Marvel will appear next in the MCU. At the end of her new team-up movie with Kamala Kahn (Iman Vellani) and Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) was back on Earth with Kamala, and it seemed as though she might be sticking around. However, the Captain Marvel sequel leaves her future somewhat ambiguous.
There are a handful of likely MCU projects in which Captain Marvel could make her next appearance, both confirmed and otherwise. As one of the most powerful Avengers, it stands to reason that Carol will be featured in the upcoming crossover movies, though some individual movies and shows on the horizon could benefit from a Captain Marvel appearance as well. To that end, here are 10 MCU projects and shows where Captain Marvel could return.
How To Watch the Marvel Movies In Order (By Release Date & In Order Of MCU Timeline Events)
Want to catch up before the next release, or just revisit the universe for a refresher? Here’s the order to watch the entire MCU timeline.
10 The Marvels 2/Captain Marvel 3
Bringing The Trio Back Together
Although Monica Rambeau is currently trapped in another reality that’s apparently home to a version of the X-Men such as Hank McCoy’s Beast and an alternate version of her mother known as Binary, it stands to reason that she’ll eventually make her way back to the main MCU of Earth-616. When that happens, a potential Captain Marvel 3/The Marvels 2 would be possible, re-teaming The Marvels together for some sort of all-new adventure.
9 Ms. Marvel Season 2
Helping Out In New Jersey
With The Marvels happening right on the heels of Kamala Kahn’s solo series, it would certainly be exciting to see a second season of Ms. Marvel where Carol Danvers makes a cameo or even an extended appearance to either give advice or lend a hand to her biggest fan and newest ally. It would certainly be warranted considering their team up in The Marvels.
8 Shang-Chi 2
Carol Was In The First Movie
In the first Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Carol Danvers appeared in the post-credits scene along with Wong and Bruce Banner as they worked to determine the origins and source of Shang-Chi’s powerful relics inherited from his father Wenwu. To that end, a Captain Marvel appearance in Shang-Chi 2 would be logical with Carol perhaps joining forces to help Shang-Chi learn more about the power he wields through the Ten Rings which were sending some sort of unknown signal at the end of the first movie.
7 Avengers 5
Captain Marvel Could Help Fight Kang
The next Avengers crossover is set to release in 2026 with the currently titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Regardless of what might be going on with the film’s villain in the wake of Marvel Studios cutting ties with original Kang actor Jonathan Majors, it’s widely expected that Carol Danvers will be part of a new Avengers roster. This will also give her a chance to be more involved this time around compared to her limited role in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
6 Avengers 6
Secret Wars Will Be All Hands On Deck
In a similar vein, Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release the following year in 2027. Not only is it expected to reboot the MCU to a certain degree and massively shift the current status quo, but it will more than likely feature several heroes and villains from various realities beyond Earth-616 if the Secret Wars crossover from the comics is anything to go on. As such, Captain Marvel is virtually a guarantee for an appearance in Avengers 6, not to mention any potential variants of Carol Danvers who may be introduced in the upcoming multiversal crossover.

Between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment, here is every upcoming Marvel movie release date and what we know about the projects so far.
5 Nova
A New Cosmic Adventure
While it’s yet to be officially confirmed, some sort of Nova project has been in development for several years from Marvel Studios, starring either or both Richard Rider or Sam Alexander as human members of the Nova Corps, the galactic peacekeeping force that made its MCU debut in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. To that end, Captain Marvel is one of the best-suited MCU heroes to make a possible appearance in a cosmic adventure.
4 Young Avengers
Mentoring Kamala’s New Team?
At the end of The Marvels, Kamala tells Carol that she has an idea for the future. This is immediately followed by her recruitment of Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye for a new team of young heroes and the tease that she intended to recruit Ant-Man’s daughter Cassie Lang next. This is a very clear set-up for the future debut of the Young Avengers in the MCU. As such, it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to imagine Captain Marvel stopping by to mentor the new team or to offer guidance to Kamala specifically as she tries leading her very own team.
3 The Legendary Star-Lord
Carol Danvers and Peter Quill Have A Lot In Common
The post-credits scene at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 came with the tease that “The Legendary Star-Lord” would return. Despite his return to Earth and reunion with his grandfather, this does suggest that Star-Lord still has more adventures in the MCU to be had, and a potential team-up with Carol Danvers would be a compelling possibility. After all, they’re both humans who’ve spent the vast majority of their lives away from Earth traveling the cosmos, and both have finally returned home.
2 Guardians of the Galaxy 4
Captain Marvel Could Become An Honorary Guardian
That being said, the other possibility in the wake of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is that Captain Marvel could join forces with the new Guardians of the Galaxy which is currently being led by Rocket Raccoon. Rocket and Carol did work together during the Blip, so there is enough of a preexisting relationship to warrant a possible scenario where she gets called to lend a hand as an honorary member of the Guardians. That said, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 has yet to be confirmed for the MCU.
1 Secret Invasion Season 2
The Skrulls Still Need Help
While it’s yet to be confirmed, the ending of Marvel’s Secret Invasion did set up a future season that would arguably be more compelling than the first. Following the reveal that a million Skrulls had been living on Earth in secret along with President Ritson declaring all extraterrestrials as enemy combatants, it seemed as though the world was flung into chaos with Skrulls being hunted down and killed.
Likewise, The Marvels saw Valkyrie escorting Skrull refugees and Emperor Dro’ge to New Asgard in Norway, even though Secret Invasion established that neither Asgardians nor Skrulls are currently safe on Earth. To that end, Captain Marvel’s involvement in a potential second season of Secret Invasion does seem more than warranted following her absence in the first season.
The Marvels
The Marvels sees the long-awaited team-up of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) as the trio work together to find out how their powers have become inextricably linked. Acting as a sequel to both Captain Marvel (2019) and the Ms. Marvel television show, The Marvels is the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
