2023 has been a huge year for Disney+. The streaming platform has added new seasons of beloved returning TV shows like Loki and The Mandalorian. Disney+ has also heavily capitalized on its partnership with Marvel. Marvel movies, such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, are available for streaming on the platform. It’s not only Marvel movies that Disney+ has added to its long list of movies and TV shows. Movies from other studios, like the classic comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, are also on the streaming platform’s movie library. Now that the spooky season is over, Disney+ will be adding a variety of feel-good movies to usher in the Christmas season.

Disney+ won’t be adding a lot of movies to its platform this November. However, the streaming platform will add some original Disney Christmas movies like The Naughty Nine and Dashing Through the Snow. Even though Spider-Man: Far From Home was released in 2019, the streaming platform will add the popular movie to its library in November.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Streaming on Disney+ on Nov. 3

Spider-Man: Far From Home was one of Disney and Marvel’s fan favorites. The movie, which was a continuation of the events after Avengers: Endgame and concludes the Infinity Saga, follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he goes on a vacation to Europe with his classmates. All Peter wants is to impress MJ (Zendaya) and hopefully go on a date with her, but that gets ruined when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) turns up and asks for his help in stopping four elemental creatures from destroying the world. He teams up with another superhero, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhall), to defeat the elemental creatures. Despite inheriting an AI called E.D.I.T.H from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Peter continues to struggle with balancing his superhero life with his normal life in classic Spider-Man fashion.

After he and Mysterio team up, Peter begins to trust him and thinks he’s the rightful owner of E.D.I.T.H. However, it turns out Mysterio is the bad guy who wanted the AI to help put into motion his nefarious plans. Peter eventually discovers Mysterio’s plot and learns that the elemental creatures are an illusion that Mysterio and his team came up with. As a former employee of Stark Industries, Mysterio felt that the AI he helped design belonged to him instead of Peter. But not all is doom and gloom. By the end of the movie, Peter finally gets to kiss MJ, and thus, their relationship, which is a significant part of Spider-Man: No Way Home, begins. Spider-Man: Far from Home will be available for streaming on Nov. 3.

The Naughty Nine

Streaming on Disney+ on Nov. 23

Disney

It’s almost Christmas, and what better way to celebrate the giving season than to watch a heartwarming Christmas movie? On Feb. 22, 2022, Disney announced it would develop a film about a holiday heist planned by nine naughty children. Directed by Alberto Belli, known for his work on Gatlopp, The Naughty Nine follows a boy called Andy (Winslow Fegley), who causes a lot of trouble during the year, resulting in Santa (Danny Glover) putting him on the naughty list. The disgruntled Andy will not let that slight slide. He feels he has been punished unfairly, so he develops an elaborate plan to steal presents from the North Pole.

However, Andy can’t execute such a heist on his own. So he recruits nine other kids on the naughty list, including Andy’s closest friend Dulce and his older sister Laurel, to help him. Andy and his team might have underestimated how easy it would be to steal presents from The North Pole. Clearly, this wouldn’t be the first time a groupof disgruntled kids tried to one-up Santa.Santa has been around for ages, so he very well could be one step ahead the whole time. The heist Andy and his friend’s plan could be a teaching moment for how they view Christmas and what it is really about. The Naughty Nine will be available for streaming on Nov. 23.

Dashing Through the Snow

Streaming on Disney+ on Nov. 17

The Christmas grouch troupe is a common plot line that has been excessively used in many movies about the holidays. Dashing Through the Snow should be a hilarious Disney original movie that follows a social worker called Eddie Garrick (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) as he takes his daughter, Charlotte, with him to work on Christmas Eve.

Eddie is not a fan of the holiday season due to a traumatic experience he had as a child. He despises Christmas and everything to do with the holiday. While Eddie and his daughter are at work, they run into Nick, a jolly guy in a red suit. Eddie does not take a liking to Nick and thinks he needs psychological help. When he tries to get Nick help, Eddie and his daughter are taken on a whimsical journey that helps them bond and might just restore Eddie’s belief in the season of giving. Dashing Through the Snow is the perfect movie for a cozy night as we approach the festive season, with plenty of great actors. The movie will be available for streaming on Nov. 17.
