Few superheroes have a reputation quite as violent as Wolverine’s, and it’s all thanks to his famous claws – though some characters still have the perfect protection against Wolverine. Logan has an array of powers to his name, but his adamantium claws allow him to hack and slash whatever and whoever he pleases. His razor-sharp claws have fueled and, arguably, created his penchant for violence.
Whenever Wolverine unleashes his claws, anyone in his path needs to clear out. He shows no mercy regardless if it’s a hero or a villain who has drawn his ire. Wolverine’s kill-count is high, and he’s anxious to use his claws to raise it as soon as possible. The adamantium is what makes his claws unbreakable and even harder to find a solution for. However, there is a short list of characters on Marvel’s roster who have managed to find a way to beat Wolverine and his claws.

Reed Richards
Mister Fantastic Can Stretch His Body to Avoid Wolverine
As someone who was formerly the world’s smartest man on the planet, it should come as no surprise that Mister Fantastic has a solution for everything, even Wolverine. In this instance, his problem-solving ability has less to do with his intellect and more to do with his ability to stretch. A Wolverine brainwashed into thinking he was a Hydra agent had to battle Reed Richards in Wolverine #22 by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., but his attempts to shred through Reed’s body were to no avail as Reed is immune to Wolverine’s claws.
The elasticity of Reed’s body and his control over it makes him capable of stretching his body to accommodate Wolverine’s claws. He essentially adapts his body and braces it for impact, making it all the more impossible for any of Wolvie’s claws to pierce through him as per usual with his opponents.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty Can Phase Through Anything, Even Wolverine’s Claws
Kitty Pryde remains one of Wolverine’s closest allies, and readers shouldn’t expect these two to turn on each other any time soon, but in a worst-case scenario, those same readers would be surprised to know that Kitty would come out on top. Her phasing abilities allow her to do more than just phase through objects and walls. Wolverine’s claws can’t even phase through her when she uses this power, which has surprising tactical advantages.

Marvel’s “Ultimate Wolverine” series just introduced a classic Avenger, & readers are already theorizing that they could be an item in this timeline.
Kitty actually manages to kill Wolverine in a What If …? universe where all she needs to do is phase through Wolverine at the right moment if she wants to get him to cut his own head off. With strategy and timing, Kitty could make Wolverine slice himself into smithereens.

Darwin
Thanks to His Adaptation Powers, Darwin Can Beat Wolverine
As opposed to his ending in X-Men: First Class, the comics remind readers at every turn that Darwin is unkillable because his powers allow him to adapt to quite literally anything imaginable. Armando Muñoz’s powers protect him from death, as his body is constantly evolving to adapt to the latest threat. Wolverine and Darwin have never had to look at each other on opposite ends of a battlefield, but they have shared it numerous times as fellow X-Men.
If it were to come to an unexpected showdown between the two, then in all likelihood, Darwin could handle the worst of what Wolverine can dish out. Darwin’s powers are more defensive than offensive, meaning that even if he doesn’t evolve into something powerful enough to kill Wolverine, he would just tire Logan out, as every one of his attempts would be futile.

Armor
Armor’s Force Fields Can Keep Wolverine at Bay
The new Ultimate Universe has put a new spotlight on the character of Hisako Ichiki, otherwise known as the mutant Armor, but Armor is a character who has existed in X-Men lore for the better part of twenty-one years. Indicated by her name, she can produce energy projections and psionic body armor that is completely impenetrable. No bullet, blunt force, or sharp object can break through, not even with a shred of adamantium.
If strong enough, most force fields in the Marvel Universe can block Wolverine’s strongest strikes…
If strong enough, most force fields in the Marvel Universe can block Wolverine’s strongest strikes, and Armor’s rank among the strongest. It should be noted that her powers can’t stop Wolverine’s claws, but they dostop his hands, which would stop the points of his claws from getting to her.

Mister Immortal
He’d Still Get Wrecked by Wolverine, But He’ll Always Come Back to Life
Mister Immortal isn’t a name that rings many bells for more casual audiences, but even those who have never heard of him before can guess that he holds the power of immortality. He’s best remembered as a staple of the Great Lakes Avengers in the comics; meanwhile, the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced him as, quietly, the MCU’s second canonical mutant through an appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
It can be argued that Mister Immortal has an even better healing factor than Wolverine’s, considering that his accelerated ability to regenerate stops him from ever dying. Granted, in a fight with Wolverine, Mister Immortal is going to have the worst time imaginable – as if immortality isn’t already a nightmare for him – and he doesn’t stand a chance, but no matter how savage the slaughtering escalates, Wolverine’s claws can’t kill him.

Juggernaut
Adamantium Can’t Stop the Juggernaut
Juggernaut has always been a force to be reckoned with. Wolverine’s go-to weapon to take the beast out would have to be his claws, but thanks to Juggernaut’s armor, Wolverine can’t put a dent in Juggernaut. Thanks to his never-say-die attitude, that won’t stop Wolverine from trying every time, but the irrational attempts only make Wolverine look like the weakest hero ever.

Juggernaut’s Healing Factor Is Unique, And Marvel Is Finally Clarifying Its Rules
Marvel redefines Juggernaut’s powers by expanding on how Cain Marko’s healing factor works, setting him apart from his fellow fast-healing X-Men.
Combined with durability, being an avatar of Cyttorak makes Juggernaut exponentially stronger than Wolverine. With magic coursing through his veins, he has managed to beat Wolverine within an inch of his life on more than one occasion. Wolverine isn’t unbeatable, and he has as many wins as he has losses, but few have been able to absolutely overwhelm Wolverine quite like Juggernaut regularly does.

Invisible Woman
Sue Storm’s Force Fields Can Stop Wolverine’s Claws
There aren’t many things that Wolverine is afraid of, but believe it or not, the Invisible Woman’s powers scare him. Much like her husband Reed Richards, Sue Storm is a Fantastic Four member who has an answer for Wolverine, but this is an answer that Wolverine has no rebuttal for. Usually, even in no-win scenarios, Wolverine remains vigilant to a fault and arguably remains delusional enough to fight a losing battle, confident that there is a sliver of a chance that he can win.
Wolverine doesn’t carry that same confidence when he’s up against Sue Storm. She doesn’t just turn invisible, and this fear goes beyond even her force field. While she can create force fields that are reliable enough to thwart Wolverine’s attempts to attack, she can also make an opponent’s optic nerves invisible, freezing their lungs. That’s enough to make Wolverine nervous.
3
Magneto
He Once Stripped the Adamantium from Wolverine’s Body
There is a case to be made for Magneto to be Wolverine’s most formidable adversary. If it comes to hand-to-hand combat, Wolverine knows how to cut through Magneto, but that’s only if Magneto allows Wolverine the opportunity to get close enough to do so. Wolverine would need to strategize and follow through – or hope that Magneto is merciful once he reaches his feet.
Not only is Magneto capable of evading his claws, but he can take Wolverine’s adamantium out of the equation entirely.
Audiences can’t forget that Magneto once used his powers to remove the adamantium from Wolverine’s body. Wolverine eventually got his adamantium back, but that singular moment between Magneto and Wolverine proved that not only is Magneto capable of evading his claws, but he can take Wolverine’s adamantium out of the equation entirely. Thankfully, Wolverine has earned Magneto’s respect – and vice versa – meaning that as long as they remain on friendly terms, Wolverine and his adamantium remain safe.
2
Monica Rambeau
Monica’s Powers Make Her Too Intangible for Wolverine to Get His Claws On
As one of the oldest characters in Marvel canon, Wolverine has met just about every member of its Universe several times over, but Monica Rambeau might be the one character mentioned thus far who he hasn’t had the pleasure of getting to know as a friend or foe. Considering the nature of her powers, Wolverine is better off allying himself with her.
When the former Captain Marvel enters her light form, she becomes intangible, making it impossible for Wolverine to claw her. Truth be told, Monica is deceptively powerful beyond such an ability, as the underrated MCU hero has proven in the comics that she’s powerful enough to beat the Hulk. Wolverine has already beaten the Hulk numerous times himself, and by neutralizing his claws, Monica theoretically could beat Wolverine, too.
Not Even Wolverine Can Kill Someone Who Is Already Dead
No one can kill quite like Wolverine, but this X-Statix member neutralizes his best skill. X-Statix is one of the more obscure X-Men teams, and Dead Girl is one of Marvel’s most obscure characters. As if the name doesn’t give her powers away already, Dead Girl is already dead. Her mutant powers didn’t manifest until her death, and upon her death, she became immortal. Wolverine’s nightmarish healing ability would lead some to believe that he’s immortal, but even his powers don’t work like that.

The Grossest Detail of Wolverine’s Claws Never Made The Movies, And That’s For the Best
Thanks to Hugh Jackman’s iconic performance, Wolverine has become one of the most well-loved X-Men onscreen, but the films made one major change.
Furthermore, Dead Girl’s powers allow her to contact the dead, turn intangible, and reconstitute her body from any injury, no matter how severe, as long as a small molecule of her body survives – not dissimilar to Deadpool’s regeneration ability. Like enduring a fight with Deadpool, it’s useless for Wolverine to fight a battle that he can’t win or lose when he and his opponent constantly regenerate.
