This new team of protectors was once again united under the guidance of Doctor Strange to safeguard the stones, but their efforts were complicated by new threats.

However, Infinity Watch #2 brought the team into turmoil as they faced off against an alternate-reality stone bearer named Avery Zavala, who brutally decimated the Watch members. Zavala’s relentless onslaught left the team in disarray, with each member struggling to survive against the overwhelming power. The issue ended with Zavala’s defeat, but it wasn’t a victory for the team as they suffered major casualties. The Blade remains missing, and the Watch encounters various threats on their quest to reclaim it.

Given his history, the idea of Osborn wielding such power seems like an almost unstoppable disaster; however, this version of Osborn is not quite the same.

In this universe, Osborn isn’t the same maniacal genius fans are familiar with. He isn’t motivated by money and even refuses to give up the sword even when bribed with massive amounts. Even worse, he seems to understand its power thoroughly. He immediately uses the blade to augment his body, and then proceeds to use its power to take on the mighty Infinity Watch, demonstrating just how dangerous this new Osborn truly is. It is a dramatic turn for the still fledgling series, reminding readers of Infinity Watch that anything can happen in this bood.

Even as Zavala taunts him telepathically through the Blade, Osborn’s ability to fight back shows how well he has mastered this weapon. The Blade’s powers are brilliantly demonstrated in the issue, as Osborn slices through comic panels, in one of the most brilliant ways any character has broken the fourth wall. This visual representation adds to the intense atmosphere of his power, making it clear that the stakes in this series have escalated dramatically. However, this power comes with a price, as Osborn quickly finds himself targeted by a new group of villains eager to seize his strength.
